Description
Mai Shinomiya, alias Mai Viole, serves as a central character throughout the Battle Spirits franchise, prominently featured in Saga Brave. Introduced as a 14-year-old in Gekiha Dan, she is a formidable purple card battler and popular net idol behind the "Purple Talk" blog. Driven by stardom aspirations, she displays confidence and occasional stubbornness, yet prioritizes allies in critical battles. Her appearance includes short purple pigtails secured by a distinctive hairclip, blue-and-white attire, and long light purple socks with a heart-shaped pouch. She pilots the airship Violet and wields a purple demonic-spirit deck featuring The SevenShogun Beelzebeat and The SevenShogun Asmodios. As the Purple Core Soldier, she joins Dan Bashin’s group after defeating Kousuke, aiding missions against the Horizon Ladder and Otherworld King. A past duel against Namii yielded her Beelzebeat, the Violet, and Namii’s servant Serge, fostering enduring resentment later resolved through a rematch.

By age 16 in Brave, she abandons her blog, grows her hair long, and adopts a more feminine style with a dark-pink shirt and green stone necklace. Her personality softens, though she battles emptiness following Grand Rolo’s events. Developing romantic feelings for Dan, she actively safeguards his well-being. After transporting Dan to the future, she serves aboard the airship Sophia. Midway through Brave, she allies with Barone to aid oppressed Mazoku, temporarily using a hybrid deck combining Dan’s former cards with the Brave Killer deck. Discovering records foretelling Dan’s death, she duels him to prevent his sacrifice but fails. She confesses her desire to remain with him before his fusion with the 12 Zodiac X-Rares to save the world.

In Saga Brave, set a decade later at age 26, she sports short hair merging past styles and practical purple clothing resembling Dan’s outfit. Working as a war-zone doctor while collaborating with intelligence agencies to monitor interdimensional threats, she initially avoids card battling due to trauma from Dan’s sacrifice. Lingering guilt and unresolved feelings persist until a temporary reunion with Dan, now an interdimensional spirit maintaining the X-Rares. Overcoming her battle hesitation, their symbolic union creates a potent new card that helps defeat Leos Gideon. She accepts their separation and Dan’s non-reincarnatable state after he assures her he senses her presence during battles, moving forward with renewed resolve to confront global crises.
