Description
Kazan serves as a loyal follower to Yuuki Momose in Battle Spirits Shounen Gekiha Dan, obeying commands without question despite occasional private doubts about his master's actions. He utilizes a distinct purple deck featuring spirits such as Skulldemon, Hellscorpio, Skulldevil, and Humpdump, reflecting his character motif.
Early on, Kazan attempts to seize control of Zungurii's village, capturing Magisa until Dan Bashin defeats him in a duel. This loss, compounded by further failures against the core soldiers, subjects him to mockery from peers. He remains present during significant events like the construction of the red horizon ladder, witnessing the core soldiers' efforts to free Otherworlders and enduring physical confrontations, including being kicked by Mai.
During a tournament arc, Kazan fails to stop Mai from rescuing Kajitsu. He later volunteers his own deck for Dan's duel against Magical Crown after Dan's deck is confiscated, though Yuuki interrupts the match. When Yuuki eventually defects to join Dan and the core soldiers, Kazan maintains his loyalty, citing Yuuki's resemblance to a former captain. He reinforces this commitment by gifting Yuuki a new card to support his decision.
In the sequel Battle Spirits Brave, Kazan assumes the role of humanity's chief of forces, succeeding Zolder Grave. Operating primarily from a command position, he avoids direct combat. At Zolder's request, he facilitates Dan's transportation to the future to aid in the conflict against the mazoku.
Kazan's appearance shifts between series: he wears a light violet uniform in Gekiha Dan and a blue outfit with a matching cap in Brave. He is also known by the callsign "Cursed Kazan."
