Description
Abel Bluefield serves as a primary antagonist, a colonel in the British Army dedicating significant resources to tracking Fena Houtman. Tall with wavy pale blond hair, blue eyes, and slim features, his eyes turn red during his descent into madness. He wears a blue military uniform with yellow shoulder accents and a white feathered collar.

Outwardly charming and gentlemanly, Abel masks inner ruthlessness and an obsessive fixation on Fena, driven by her resemblance to her mother, Helena, whom he loved. This obsession fuels his actions. Extremely calculating and cold, he shows no loyalty to associates who displease him, discarding allies like Grace O'Malley and her pirate crew without hesitation when they harm Fena, then destroying their ship with excessive force using a Wellington cannon. Witnessing Helena's execution caused severe trauma, leading to episodes of manic depression when alone with her portrait.

Abel is a master combatant with uncanny marksmanship, claiming he could "shoot the wings off a fly" from ten paces using his triple-barreled pistol. He also demonstrates exceptional skill as a portrait artist, creating highly realistic paintings, including one of Helena central to his obsession.

His tragic backstory reveals he was a young prince, isolated with no friends or family, until meeting Helena in royal gardens. Their bond deepened as Abel sketched her and fell deeply in love. Helena became pregnant with the king's child under coercive circumstances orchestrated by Franz Houtman (Fena's father), who claimed it was necessary for the "La Pucelle" lineage. Helena later eloped with Franz. Abel did not see her again until her execution for this act. At the stake, Helena told Abel only those "called" could reach Eden but suggested he might find it through her child, professing love for him before her death. This scene profoundly scarmed Abel and establishes him as Fena's maternal half-sibling.

Abel's actions escalate as he manipulates others, including pirates, to capture Fena, believing she holds the key to Eden where he might reunite with Helena. His obsession distorts his perception; during the climax on Eden, he mistakes Fena and Yukimaru for Helena and Franz. He attacks Yukimaru and attempts to kill Fena after she protects Yukimaru, declaring her "no longer useful." At this moment, a vision of young Helena appears. Abel abandons his physical form to join her in an ethereal reunion, expressing guilt over his bloodstained hands before disappearing with her.
