TV-Series
Description
The Mars Tourist Bureau Chief, whose name is Chu Chu Takakowaina, is a minor but significant figure encountered during the second episode of the series. He is the official head of the Mars Tourism Bureau, a position that places him in charge of the planet's image and the primary attraction that draws intergalactic visitors: the appearance that Mars is inhabited by friendly, anthropomorphic octopus-like aliens. Before the events of the series, Mars was a largely uninhabitable desert. A misunderstanding involving actual octopuses led to the widespread belief among Earthlings and other travelers that Martians were octopus-like beings. Rather than correct this misconception, Chu Chu Takakowaina chose to capitalize on it. He ordered the entire human population of Mars to wear elaborate octopus-shaped bodysuits at all times in public, creating a thriving tourist industry built entirely on this fabricated identity. This decision defines his personality as pragmatic, opportunistic, and deeply invested in maintaining the status quo for economic gain. He is not inherently malicious but is driven by a strong desire to protect the prosperity of his planet, even at the cost of honesty. His primary motivation is to preserve the lucrative octopus-themed tourism, which supports local businesses, such as the unpopular amusement park Takotubo Land. He views the illusion as necessary for survival and is resistant to any change that threatens the local economy. Chu Chu Takakowaina's role in the story is to serve as an obstacle and a catalyst for a moral lesson. After the main characters Robby Yarge and Hatchi Kita arrive on Mars and Hatchi accidentally discovers the truth behind the octopus costumes, Hatchi is arrested and forced to participate in a promotional broadcast for Takotubo Land. The chief's daughter, known as Glamorous Girl, is opposed to the deception and feels trapped by the lie her father perpetuates. She confides in Robby, who then takes her to the amusement park to confront her father during the live broadcast. In a pivotal moment, the daughter removes her costume in front of the cameras. Robby persuades the chief that the people of Mars do not need to be afraid of showing their true selves. Chu Chu Takakowaina relents, allowing the truth to be revealed to the public. His key relationship is with his daughter, who represents a newer, more honest generation and ultimately convinces him to change his ways. He also interacts briefly with the debt collector Yang, providing information about the protagonists' destination after the scandal breaks. In terms of development, Chu Chu Takakowaina undergoes a shift from a stubborn guardian of a lie to a figure willing to accept change. By the end of his appearance, he accepts that the truth can also be a selling point, as tourism on Mars actually improves after the hoax is exposed. His notable ability is his capacity for large-scale public relations management, having successfully maintained a planetary-wide deception for a significant period. He also demonstrates enough influence to detain visitors and command the participation of the local population in his scheme. Overall, he is a figure who prioritizes practicality and prosperity but is ultimately capable of listening to reason and embracing honesty for the greater good.
