Description
Galand, also known as Galand of Truth, is a significant antagonist who originates as one of the Ten Commandments, the elite warrior force of the Demon Clan. His history stretches back over three thousand years to the ancient Holy War, where he fought for the Demon King against the Goddess Clan and other races. After being sealed away for millennia, he was eventually released, only to meet his end at the hands of his own magic. However, in the events of the sequel series, Galand is resurrected by Arthur Pendragon using the power of Chaos, becoming a servant of the King of Camelot and a fearsome enemy for the Four Knights of the Apocalypse.

Physically, Galand is an imposing figure whose appearance resembles living armor, making him a striking and memorable presence. He stands at an immense 408 centimeters tall and weighs 329 kilograms, with a chronological age of over three thousand years, though his biological age is 991. His attire and form give him a distinct, almost skeletal look that sets him apart from other demons. In his standard state, his power level is measured at 27,000, which is heavily weighted towards physical strength at 24,000, with minimal magical power.

Personality-wise, Galand is defined by a love for battle and a warrior's spirit that is both fearsome and, at times, deceptively simple. He is a ruthless combatant who shows no mercy to the weak, dispatching them without hesitation, yet he possesses a genuine and deep-seated desire to face powerful opponents. This battle-hungry nature is coupled with a tendency to become overconfident and easily carried away in the heat of a fight. Despite his monstrous and merciless qualities, he displays moments of camaraderie and loyalty, most notably in his friendship with his fellow Commandment, Melascula. Their bond is depicted as genuine, as they are often seen fighting together, protecting one another, and even sharing moments of levity, such as getting drunk in a tavern. He also shows an appreciation for alcohol and, in his own way, respects those who give him good advice in combat.

Galand's primary role in the story of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse is as a revived enforcer for Arthur's Camelot. He is dispatched along with Melascula as part of a mission to eliminate the prophesied Four Knights and their allies, serving as a direct and powerful obstacle that the new generation of heroes must overcome. His resurrection by Chaos not only brings him back from petrification but also grants him a significant power boost, transforming him into Chaos Galand. In this enhanced state, he retains his memories and his fierce grudge against those who defeated him in his previous life, particularly Escanor. He is unleashed upon Liones, where he methodically destroys the city, showing a chilling selectivity by targeting non-human races and Holy Knights.

Regarding his key relationships, his bond with Melascula is his most defining connection. They function as a complementary duo, with Galand as the pure physical powerhouse and Melascula taking on a more magical, support-oriented role. Their partnership is so integral that they ultimately fuse together to become a single, more powerful being known as Melagaland, combining their strengths in a final desperate battle against their foes. He also shares a history with the original Seven Deadly Sins, most notably a humiliating defeat at the hands of Escanor, who forced him to break a promise and subsequently be petrified by his own Commandment of Truth. This past failure and desire for vengeance continue to motivate him even after his resurrection.

In terms of development, Galand remains largely static in his core personality, serving as a consistent force of chaotic and straightforward destruction. His primary arc within the sequel is his return from death and his transformation into a more powerful pawn of Chaos. His character development is most evident in his final moments, where his partnership with Melascula culminates in their fusion, representing the ultimate expression of their teamwork and desperation. This fusion, Melagaland, marks the final stage of his role in the narrative before his ultimate demise at the hands of the Four Knights, bringing a definitive end to his long and violent history.

Galand possesses several notable abilities that make him a formidable opponent. As the bearer of the Commandment of Truth, anyone who tells a lie in his presence is instantly petrified, a power that also forces him to uphold his own word. His primary combat ability is a magical technique called Critical Over, which allows him to convert all of his magical power directly into physical strength. When activated, this drastically boosts his power level to as high as 40,000 and transforms his body into a more spiked and ferocious form. In terms of combat skills, he is a master of his massive spear, capable of unleashing devastating techniques. His arsenal includes Zanbarazan, a rapid series of thrusts from above; Bunzaradan, a whirlwind attack that slashes everything in the vicinity; and Bassari, a powerful cleaving strike capable of splitting the ground. Upon becoming Chaos Galand, his physical strength is further amplified, making him an even greater threat on the battlefield.
