Description
Lucky Lunchman is a middle-aged man who appears as a gambler in a casino located in Berland. He possesses an extraordinary degree of good fortune, consistently winning at cards, slot machines, and any other game of chance he plays. His luck is so potent that he is able to defeat Finn Oldman at poker and seemingly shrug off any misfortune that comes his way. Lucky Lunchman is a former holder of the X‑Playing Card known as the Ten of Diamonds, which grants the ability called Unlucky Poky. This power allows him to manipulate luck, making him nearly unbeatable in gambling and enabling him to turn adverse situations to his advantage.
In the story, Lucky Lunchman serves as an early obstacle for the protagonist Finn. When Finn visits the casino in an attempt to raise money for his orphanage, Lucky Lunchman cleans him out of his winnings, forcing Finn into a desperate situation. This encounter triggers a chain of events that leads to Finn’s discovery of the X‑Playing Cards and his eventual recruitment into the secret group High Card. Lucky Lunchman’s role is primarily that of a minor supporting character who appears at the beginning of the series; he does not undergo significant development or appear later in the narrative. His motivations are rooted in gambling and profit, and he shows no deeper allegiance to any faction beyond his own self‑interest. Beyond his brief interaction with Finn, Lucky Lunchman does not form lasting relationships with other characters. His notable ability, the Ten of Diamonds’ Unlucky Poky, makes him a formidable opponent in games of chance and a memorable catalyst for the series’ opening events.
