Description
Eve is a major antagonist in the anime NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a, known as the younger twin brother of Adam. Both are highly evolved machine lifeforms who were born from the machine network, with Eve emerging directly from a wound on Adam's body. Their origin is tied to the network, and as they develop, they begin to adopt human mannerisms and behaviors in an effort to understand humanity. While Adam chooses to wear a white dress shirt as part of this emulation, Eve typically remains topless, simply wearing pants.
In terms of personality, Eve is the direct foil to his brother. Where Adam is intellectual, calm, and driven by a desire for knowledge and philosophical understanding, Eve is simple-minded, childish, and prefers physical activities over deep thought. He has a notoriously short temper and is prone to intense, unfiltered emotional outbursts. His entire existence and sense of purpose revolve around Adam; he is fiercely protective, deeply loyal, and views his brother as his everything. Eve does not care about his own desires and readily accepts any decision Adam makes. A significant deviation in the anime adaptation from the original game is that during the fight in the Copied City, Eve takes the death blow that was meant for Adam, sacrificing himself for his brother. Following this event, Adam pilots a giant white machine in the shape of Eve to attack the Resistance Camp.
