Description
Piwi is a small, round, fluffy bright green creature from the anime Helck who resembles a kiwi fruit with a bird-like appearance. Despite looking like a bird and making high-pitched calls, Piwi insists that he is not a bird. He is a mysterious being capable of speaking human language, and his true nature is that of a moss, or spirit, born of the World Tree Yggdrasil. Because of this origin, he is regarded as a phantasmagorical exotic beast rather than an ordinary animal.
As a creature of the World Tree, Piwi has lived a very long life and possesses a resilience beyond that of ordinary beings. The special nature of his existence is made clear when the snow that forcibly awakens or transforms humans has no effect on him. His most notable ability is his singing: his voice can calm those who hear it, and at a crucial moment in the story his song proves capable of nullifying a forbidden curse, an ability that plays a decisive role in the final confrontation and helps save his companions when defeat seemed certain. He can also communicate with birds and understands human speech.
