Description
Riselia Ray Crystalia is a central character in The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy. She comes from a noble lineage with a historic responsibility for protecting the region known as the Assault Garden. Her early life was marked by tragedy when the Void Lord led an attack that resulted in the deaths of her parents and sister, leaving only Riselia and her friend Regina as survivors. This loss fuels her determination to fight against the Voids and protect others from similar suffering.
Riselia serves as the commander of the 18th Platoon at Excalibur Academy, where she demonstrates strong leadership and combat ability. She is the first person to encounter the main character, Leonis, after he awakens from a thousand year slumber in the body of a ten year old boy. Believing him to be a refugee, she takes him under her care and enrolls him at the academy. Her personality is defined by a protective and maternal nature, especially toward those younger than her, and she consistently puts the safety of others before her own.
Her motivations are rooted in her desire to prevent further loss of life and to uphold the responsibilities of her noble heritage. She also struggles with her own perceived shortcomings; despite being descended from a line of legendary warriors, she initially cannot awaken a Holy Sword, which causes her insecurity and drives her personal growth.
Riselia’s role in the story is foundational. Her rescue of Leonis sets the entire plot in motion, and their relationship becomes a core element of the narrative. In a critical battle, she sacrifices herself to protect Leonis from a Void. He revives her using a forbidden spell called Create Elder Undead, which transforms her into a Vampire Queen, the most powerful type of undead. This event deepens her connection to Leonis and grants her enhanced abilities.
Her key relationships include her deep bond with Leonis, which evolves from caretaker and patient into a partnership built on trust and shared purpose. She also maintains close ties with her platoon members and with Regina, the friend who survived the same tragedy that shaped her life.
Riselia undergoes substantial development throughout the series. She begins as a capable but somewhat insecure leader and grows into a more confident and powerful figure after gaining her Vampire Queen powers. Her transformation forces her to navigate her new identity while retaining her sense of justice and compassion.
In terms of abilities, Riselia is a skilled swordsman and a competent leader in combat. After becoming a Vampire Queen, she acquires superhuman physical attributes, including increased strength and speed, as well as dark magic associated with her undead nature. She also eventually learns to wield a sacred blade, complementing her vampiric abilities. Her appearance is notable for her long silver hair and blue eyes, often accompanied by a red ribbon.
