Description
Aldoron is the Wood Dragon God and a major antagonist in the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest storyline. He is one of the Five Dragon Gods, a group of immensely powerful dragons who fled to the northern continent of Guiltina to hide from the Black Dragon Acnologia following the Dragon King Festival. His reputation is such that he is considered the largest dragon in the world, with his power said to rival that of Acnologia himself.

Aldoron's most defining physical characteristic is his colossal size, so massive that his body serves as the very foundation for Drasil, a large city and the capital of Guiltina. Multiple towns and cities are built across different parts of his body, including his shoulders, hands, and back, with the inhabitants living in ignorance of the true nature of the ground beneath them. His appearance reflects his wood-based powers, as his body is covered in bark-like scales and features trees and other wooden growths. When awakened, his wooden horns blaze with flames. In addition to his true dragon form, Aldoron can assume a humanoid form known as a God Seed, which resembles an armored man made of wood, complete with a leaf cape and a crown of branches.

Despite allowing humans to live on his body for centuries and being regarded by them as a divine protector, Aldoron is in truth a ruthless, manipulative, and malevolent being. He holds a deep-seated contempt for humanity, viewing humans not as beings worthy of conversation or coexistence, but merely as a source of nutrients to sustain and heal himself. This belief stems from his conviction that dragons are the pinnacle of all living things and that interacting with lesser beings is absurd. For roughly three hundred years, he deceived the people of Drasil, allowing them to build their civilization upon him while secretly absorbing their life force to recover from wounds inflicted by Acnologia in a past battle. When he finally awakens, he callously absorbs the energy of the citizens, transforming them into trees and causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands. This act reveals his true, violent nature, as he destroys the Guiltina Magic Council's fleet with ease when they attempt to intervene.

Within the story of the 100 Years Quest, Aldoron is the second Dragon God that the Fairy Tail guild members, led by Natsu Dragneel, are tasked with sealing away. The team travels to Drasil, only to discover the horrifying truth that the city is built upon a sleeping dragon god. The conflict with Aldoron is complicated by the machinations of the White Mage, Faris, who has manipulated Fairy Tail and seeks to steal his power for her own purposes, leading to a chaotic three-way battle involving Fairy Tail and the Dragon Slayer guild Diabolos. Aldoron's role as the arc villain solidifies as his god seeds are unleashed to battle the wizards, and his main body awakens from its long slumber, threatening to destroy everything.

Key relationships in Aldoron's story are defined by conflict and a fundamental clash of ideologies. He is directly opposed by Natsu Dragneel, whose burning will and strength he gravely underestimates. Aldoron looks down upon dragons like Igneel, the Fire Dragon King, for their love of humanity, viewing it as nonsense. This disdain makes his final defeat at the hands of Natsu, who channels the flames of Igneel, Atlas Flame, and even his foster brother Ignia, all the more significant. He also battles a magically enlarged Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon Slayer, in a massive clash of titans. Other members of Fairy Tail, including Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet, fight and destroy his subordinate god seeds, each victory weakening Aldoron further.

Throughout the battle, Aldoron does not undergo any traditional character development or redemption. Instead, his true, deceptive nature is fully exposed as he casts aside his benevolent facade. His development lies in the escalation of his threat, moving from a passive, sleeping parasite to an active, devastating force of nature. However, his overwhelming arrogance remains his defining trait until the very end. He is ultimately shocked and astonished that a human like Natsu could possess the power to destroy him, a testament to his unyielding belief in dragon supremacy.

Aldoron possesses a vast array of formidable abilities, all stemming from his Wood Dragon Slayer Magic. This magic allows him to manipulate wood and plant life in various ways. He can grow massive trees from the ground, launch countless sharpened wooden projectiles, and summon devastating thorn attacks such as the Thicket of Arms to impale his enemies. A crucial and sinister ability is his power to absorb the life force of humans and convert it into nutrients, which he uses to heal his wounds and increase his own power and size over time. He also possesses powerful sensory abilities, including mind-reading, which allows him to read the thoughts of his foes. To manage his overwhelming power and protect his main body, Aldoron created five orbs that contain his power, each guarded by a sentient being called a God Seed. These seeds include Wolfen, who can read minds and copy the powers of a target's strongest memory; Metro, who commands a mighty army; Gears, a calculating tactician; and Doom, who brings death. The leader of these seeds is a humanoid version of Aldoron himself, who acts as the dragon's brain and primary fighting avatar. As long as this main god seed survived, he could eventually regenerate the others. In combat, Aldoron's dragon body is incredibly resilient, rendering most non-Dragon Slayer magic useless against him, and even Dragon Slayer attacks are hard-pressed to inflict significant damage. He is ultimately defeated when Natsu destroys his main god seed, causing his colossal body to crumble and terraform into a vast forest.
