Description
Alicia Edelsia is a young adventurer from the world of Granbahamal who finds herself at the center of a heroic reputation she did not earn. She is a beginner adventurer and a holy mage, later bestowed with the grand title of Shining Crusader. Despite being around twenty years old, Alicia has a distinctly youthful appearance with a soft, baby face, shoulder-length sand-brown hair, and violet eyes, which often leads others to mistake her for being much younger than she actually is. Her typical attire consists of a white holy mage's outfit worn over a pink dress shirt.
Alicia's personality is defined by her gentle and sincere nature. She is a positive, warm, and caring individual who tends to see the good in others and trusts people easily. However, she is also quite naive, innocent, and notably clumsy, which can sometimes cause difficulties for herself and her companions. Despite being the same age as the protagonist known as Uncle, and even a few months older, her demeanor and mannerisms give off a much more childlike and inexperienced impression.
Her backstory is shrouded in mystery, as Alicia has no memories of her life before the age of nine. Her earliest recollection is being rescued from a goblin attack by a village watch, clutching a torn birthday drawing made by her younger sister. Believing her biological family to have perished, she was adopted by a frontier priest named Edge Edelcia, who gave her the name Alicia and chose a birthday for her, making her true age uncertain. She treasures the single surviving letter from her birth family and suspects her original name began with the letter A. This loss of her past makes her deeply cherish the bonds she forms in the present.
Within the story, Alicia begins as a rookie adventurer forming a party with her childhood friends, Edgar Crosstruger and Raiga Striga. Her role becomes complicated when Uncle, the protagonist from another world, secretly saves her party from a goblin army. Due to political reasons, Uncle's achievements are publicly credited to Alicia's group, leading the church to mistakenly name her the legendary Shining Crusader, a title she feels completely unworthy of. This misunderstanding places her at the center of a heroic narrative she has not yet earned.
Her key relationships shape her journey significantly. Edgar and Raiga are her loyal companions from childhood, though both have explicitly stated they have no romantic interest in her and find the idea of dating her to be troublesome. In contrast, Alicia develops a deep admiration and eventual romantic attraction to Uncle, whose hidden strength and humility she witnesses firsthand. She comes to believe he is a true hero who does not boast about his feats. However, their relationship is complicated by Uncle's frequent use of memory-erasing magic, often to avoid awkward situations or to protect his own secrets, which leads to several conflicts and misunderstandings between them.
Throughout the series, Alicia undergoes notable development from an inexperienced novice to a genuinely capable adventurer. A turning point is her acquisition of the ancient Wand of Salvation, an artifact that greatly enhances her abilities. By unlocking its true power, she receives a divine blessing that strengthens her body and allows her to use a special synchronization magic, letting her temporarily wield the skills and techniques of Edgar and Raiga. This growth allows her to gradually live up to her heroic title.
In terms of abilities, Alicia specializes in holy and light magic, with a particular talent for creating healing charms and magical scrolls. As a beginner, her combat skills are initially limited, but she is a valuable support member of her party. After obtaining the Wand of Salvation, her powers expand significantly to include generating powerful barriers to protect allies or trap enemies. Her signature growth is the heart-sharing ability, which not only cures mental afflictions in her allies but also allows her to synchronize with them and use their own special moves. This development marks her transition from an accidental hero to one with the power to match her legendary name.
