TV-Series
Description
Dion Alaia is a significant character from the story, recognized as the mightiest swordsman in the imperial army. He is a man in his late twenties who originally worked as a mercenary before his exceptional skills earned him an official rank as a captain of a centurion, a unit of one hundred soldiers.
Dion possesses a complex personality that blends seemingly contradictory traits. While he can carry himself with the air of a gracious gentleman, he is also a person of action with a cold and ruthless side, showing no hesitation to kill even a child if the situation demands it. Conversely, he is deeply loyal and values his comrades, willing to risk his own life for their sake. He has an unusual sensibility, as he enjoys being challenged by a strong opponent. He is known to prefer a partner who is a woman of steel, ideally at least twenty years old.
In a previous timeline, Dion was the personal executioner of Princess Mia Luna Tearmoon. His intense hatred for the princess originated from a tragic incident where her selfish desire for a trinket sparked a conflict in the Sealence Forest. As a result, Dion was ordered to cut down the forest, leading to a battle where all of his subordinates were killed, leaving him the sole survivor. Consumed by a desire for revenge, he later sided with the revolutionary army and specifically requested the honor of beheading Mia on the guillotine.
In the current timeline, Dion's role is drastically different, though his first encounter with Mia is so abrupt and terror-inducing for her that she faints on the spot. After Mia, through her actions, resolves the conflict with the Lulu tribe peacefully, Dion survives and comes to witness her wit and character. Having lost his desire for revenge, he becomes a loyal retainer to Mia and is often considered her right-hand man in military affairs, complementing Ludwig Hewitt, who serves as her brain. He is noted as the second member of Mia's Band of Four and eventually rises to the prestigious rank of general of the army.
Dion's most critical relationship is with Mia Luna Tearmoon. Even after becoming her ally, Mia remains utterly terrified of him due to her memories of the previous timeline, but he serves her faithfully as her sword as long as she does not act against good morals. He has a strong mutual respect with his former vice-captain, Vanos. He also becomes a close friend and trusted ally of Ludwig Hewitt, occasionally visiting him on the pretense of official business. Another key relationship is with Citrina Etoile Yellowmoon. Their first encounter was when he saved her life. Their interactions are marked by witty, teasing banter, and despite him initially seeing her as a crybaby kid, Citrina falls in love with him. In the distant future, Dion eventually reciprocates her feelings, and the two marry, remaining deeply in love for over thirty years. He also shows a protective and caring side toward Mia's daughter, Miabel Luna Tearmoon, sacrificing his life to buy her time to escape a revolution in one future timeline.
Dion's abilities are defined by his peerless swordsmanship. He is so skilled with his dual blades that he is considered the equivalent of a one hundred-man unit on his own. His superhuman physical capabilities allow him to perform feats like scaling vertical walls. Furthermore, his experience as a mercenary has granted him considerable tactical and strategic acumen.
