Wanyan Ping, a descendant of the former Jin Empire's imperial clan, lost her parents when the Mongols conquered the Jin dynasty. Swearing vengeance against Yelü Chucai, whom she blamed for her family's downfall, she attempted to assassinate him but was defeated in combat by his children, Yelü Qi and Yelü Yan. After this failure, she eventually reconciled with the Yelü family, abandoning her quest for revenge. Later, Wanyan Ping married Wu Xiuwen, one of Wu Santong's twin sons raised by Guo Jing and Huang Rong following their father's disappearance. By the narrative's conclusion, Wanyan Ping and Wu Xiuwen were expecting a child.
