Fuuko Izumo is an eighteen-year-old girl who serves as one of the central figures in her world. Her life was fundamentally shaped by the awakening of her Negator ability, which manifested when she was a child. At the age of eight, she inadvertently caused the death of her parents and over two hundred other people in a plane crash, an event that left her deeply traumatized and isolated. Following this tragedy, she lived with her grandfather, but her ability continued to cause accidents around her, including an incident that left her grandfather with severe injuries, leading to his death a few years later. As a result of this pattern of misfortune, she dropped out of middle school and became a shut-in, finding her only comfort in shojo romance manga, which represented the normal and happy life she felt she could never have. On the day the final volume of her favorite series was released, she resolved to end her own life, believing there was no future for someone with her power.

Fuuko’s personality is initially defined by her profound despair and social withdrawal. She is intensely afraid of physical contact, as her ability triggers misfortune upon skin-to-skin touch. This has made her severely asocial, and she typically wears heavy clothing including a beanie with the words Good Luck on it, along with gloves, to minimize the risk of accidental contact. Despite her despair, she possesses an underlying sweetness and a deep, unyielding determination. After meeting Andy, her suicidal ideation gradually fades, replaced by a fierce conviction to protect others and to fight for a normal life. She is caring and empathetic, often going out of her way to understand and befriend others who are also struggling with their own powers. Over the course of her journey, she develops incredible resilience and leadership qualities, becoming far more confident and assertive, even developing a slightly overbearing demeanor reminiscent of her partner. Her core motivation shifts from seeking an escape from her lonely existence to a powerful desire to save others from the same suffering and to find a way to defeat the divine forces that impose these cruel abilities upon humanity.

In the story, Fuuko is initially a solo Negator unaffiliated with any organization. Her role changes dramatically when she meets Andy, an immortal man who becomes obsessed with using her Unluck to achieve his own permanent death. To escape pursuit, they both join the Union, a secret organization dedicated to neutralizing supernatural threats called UMAs. Within the Union, she begins as a junior member but through numerous battles and personal trials, she grows into a formidable fighter and strategist. Following a world-ending event known as Ragnarok, she is entrusted with the future and becomes the new leader of the Union, taking over the position and beginning a new cycle of existence. In this new role, she dedicates herself to reassembling the team and preventing the tragic awakenings of other Negators, effectively becoming the central figure around whom the fight against the gods is rebuilt.

Her most significant relationship is with Andy. What begins as a transactional partnership based on their mutual needs soon deepens into a genuine romantic bond. Andy becomes her protector and a source of courage, helping her overcome her fear of intimacy and her desire to die. In turn, Fuuko gives Andy a reason to live beyond simply seeking death, filling his long existence with purpose and hope. Her caring nature also leads her to form strong friendships with other Union members, such as Tatiana, a fellow Negator with whom she shares interests like manga and plushies.

Fuuko undergoes tremendous personal development. She transitions from a fragile, suicidal recluse into a muscular, battle-hardened warrior and a decisive leader. After a significant time skip of nearly two centuries in a new timeline, she has honed her body and mind to peak condition. She learns martial arts, such as the Shin Hakkyoku style, and becomes an expert markswoman, capable of using firearms with precision. This physical transformation is mirrored by her emotional growth, as she evolves from someone who needed constant protection to the primary protector and strategist of the Union.

Fuuko’s notable ability is called Unluck. This power negates the luck of anyone who touches her bare skin. The severity of the misfortune that befalls the target is directly proportional to two factors: the duration of skin contact and the level of affection Fuuko feels for that person. A brief touch might cause a falling object to strike someone, while a kiss from a place of love could trigger a cataclysmic event like a meteor strike or a volcanic eruption. The ability does not activate if she is touched through clothing. As she gains experience, she learns to weaponize this ability in more creative ways. She develops techniques such as the Unluck Whip, using her hair to strike targets. More significantly, she learns to create Bad Bullets, where she infuses her Unluck into objects she cherishes, like bullets or tape, and fires or throws them at an enemy. This bypasses the original requirement of skin-to-skin contact and personal affection, allowing for more controlled and strategic applications of her power. Her skill is further enhanced by her learned martial arts, allowing her to deliver unluck-infused physical blows.
