TV-Series
Description
Ilia Coral is a central supporting character known for serving as the personal maid to Princess Anisphia Wynn Palettia. A woman in her late twenties, she is defined by a sharp tongue and an unwavering, deeply held loyalty that she often conceals behind a mask of professional stoicism.
Ilia was born into a low-ranking noble family that viewed her solely as a political tool to be traded for influence. Her parents intended to marry her off to an influential, much older husband, and she grew up as a weak-willed individual who obeyed without question. As part of their plan to ingratiate themselves with the royal family, her parents sent her to work as a maid in the palace. It was there that she met Princess Anisphia, who took a liking to her and, using rather forceful methods, kept Ilia from her intended fate, making her a permanent member of the royal household.
This encounter fundamentally changed Ilia. Freed from the expectations of her family, she began to develop a strong sense of self and a fierce independence. She eventually cut all ties with her parents, feeling no regret for her decision, as she had been treated as nothing more than an object. Her primary motivation stems from a deep-seated gratitude and affection for Anisphia, who gave her the courage to forge her own path. She has vowed to remain by the princess's side for life, once famously declaring that she would remain a widow forever should the princess die.
In the story, Ilia acts as the ever-present anchor to Anisphia's chaotic life. While publicly she is the princess's efficient and capable maid, in private she is a frank and often sarcastic confidante. She is the only person who regularly and openly criticizes the princess's eccentric behavior, leading to frequent accusations of disrespect from others. This bluntness, however, masks a remarkably gentle and perceptive nature. She possesses a calm and observant demeanor, allowing her to manage the princess's magical experiments and sudden whims with practiced ease.
Ilia shares some of her most significant relationships with other key characters. She is the primary caretaker and closest companion to Anisphia, a bond that transcends that of a typical master and servant, functioning more like that of an older sister or a fiercely protective best friend. She also develops a strong rapport with Euphyllia Magenta, recognizing in the younger noblewoman a similar past of having no agency. Ilia becomes a crucial source of support and advice for Euphyllia, encouraging her to discover her own desires. Additionally, she takes the new maid Lainie under her wing, teaching her the duties of a royal servant and eventually forming a very close, romantic relationship with her.
Though not a frontline combatant, Ilia is a capable user of magic. Coming from a noble family, she was trained in its use and specializes in fire-based magic, with one of her known spells being Fire Arrow. While her skills are not shown to be at the level of the kingdom's greatest mages, she is able to defend herself and others when necessary, notably engaging in a brief but dangerous confrontation with Prince Algard during a critical moment in the story. Her true abilities lie in her intelligence, resourcefulness, and practical skills, making her an indispensable logistical and emotional support for the princess's magical revolution.
