TV-Series
Description
Mizoguchi is a supporting character in the series Kaiju No. 8 who works as a supervisor for Monster Sweeper Inc., a company that handles the disposal of kaiju remains after Defense Force battles. He is a composed man with short black hair and a stoic expression, typically seen wearing rectangular glasses and the standard Monster Sweeper Inc. uniform.

A professional and disciplined leader, Mizoguchi gives precise and firm instructions to his subordinates and does not tolerate complaints or refusal. Despite his strict demeanor, he genuinely acknowledges and respects the value of his team as cleanup workers. He is motivated by a sense of duty to complete disposal operations efficiently and safely, ensuring that the aftermath of kaiju attacks is managed properly. His approach to leadership is results-oriented, and he expects his crew to follow orders without question.

Mizoguchi first appears during the disposal operation of the kaiju Philinosoma, which had been neutralized by the Third Division. He assigns Kafka Hibino to work inside the kaiju's intestines and personally forces him to comply when Kafka tries to refuse. The following day, Mizoguchi organizes his crew into different sectors, assigning Kafka to the intestines alongside Reno Ichikawa on Reno's first day of work. While observing Kafka's determination to complete the task efficiently, Mizoguchi notes that Kafka could have made a capable Defense Force officer, though he considers it fortunate to have him as a kaiju disposer. Three months later, Mizoguchi approaches Reno to deliver letters from the Defense Force addressed to both him and Kafka, indicating his continued role as a liaison between the disposal company and official channels.

Mizoguchi's key relationships are primarily professional. He interacts most with Kafka and Reno, treating them as subordinates but showing a degree of respect for their work ethic. He does not develop deep personal bonds with them, but his observations of Kafka's abilities suggest an underlying appreciation for competence. His relationship with his crew is that of a strict but fair boss who values their contributions even while maintaining a no-nonsense attitude.

Mizoguchi does not undergo significant development over the course of the series, as he appears primarily in the early arcs of the story. His role is that of a minor supporting character who provides context for Kafka's pre-Defense Force life and highlights Kafka's early determination and physical capability. Mizoguchi's notable abilities are not combat-related; rather, his strengths lie in logistical organization, leadership, and the efficient management of kaiju disposal operations. He is skilled at coordinating teams in dangerous environments and ensuring that clean-up work proceeds according to plan. His observational skills are sharp enough to recognize potential in others, as seen in his assessment of Kafka.
