TV-Series
Description
Ichitaka Miike, whose surname is sometimes written as Mitsuike, is a supporting character who works for Monster Sweeper Inc., a professional kaiju cleanup company. He is a plump young man with long brown hair tied into a messy, upright ponytail and narrow eyes, and he wears the standard coveralls of his company while on the job. His personality is generally calm and efficient, and he often tries to maintain a cheerful atmosphere around his colleagues. However, he becomes easily discouraged when situations turn dangerous or when those he looks up to fail to meet his expectations. Miike is also blunt and straightforward, sometimes coming across as harsh even when he intends to be honest.

His role in the story is primarily as a background figure who provides a civilian perspective on the kaiju battles. He and his team witness major confrontations, such as the Third Division’s neutralization of Philinosoma in Yokohama, after which they handle the cleanup of skeletal remains and send intact bones to Izumo Tech. Later, Miike and his coworkers observe the battle against a massive fungal-type kaiju and question the absence of a new recruit, Takamichi Hotaka, who is later revealed to be a shape-shifting kaiju in disguise. Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina and operator Konomi Okonogi visit Monster Sweeper Inc. to ask about Hotaka’s unusual behavior. Miike is also present during the aftermath of the First Division’s battle against Kaiju No. 9 and the ant-type kaiju in Shinagawa, managing the cleanup of the battlefield.

Miike’s key relationships are with his fellow Monster Sweeper Inc. employees, including Hiroto Mori and Masahide Tokuda. When the threat of Kaiju No. 9’s rampage looms, Miike and Mori consider fleeing Japan, but Tokuda reprimands them for their cowardice, and Miike later admits he finds Tokuda admirable in such moments despite his drinking and gambling habits. He also attends the wedding of Tokuda’s daughter, Chieko Tokuda, where a kaiju suddenly attacks. Miike has a personal hobby: he is interested in cars. As a child, he was a big fan of Isao Shinomiya, the Director General of the Defense Force. He also claims that Tokuda still owes him 50,000 yen.

Miike does not possess any combat-related abilities; his role is confined to cleanup operations after kaiju incidents. He has no development in terms of powers or personal growth beyond his observations of the Defense Force’s actions and his nuanced view of his colleagues. His character serves to ground the story in the everyday reality of those who handle the aftermath of kaiju battles, adding a layer of human reaction and practicality to the series’ larger conflict.
