Description
Gorō Aizawa is the father of the protagonist, Tomo Aizawa. He is a man of large, imposing build, fitting for his profession as a karate master and the owner and director of a bustling karate dojo, the Aizawa Dojo. Beyond his role as a martial arts instructor, he also works as a real estate agent. His dedication to his art is so complete that he is almost never seen wearing anything other than his karate dogi, even when going about his daily life outside the dojo.

In personality, Gorō is defined by a stark and often humorous contrast. On one hand, he possesses a boisterously manly, passionate, and intense energy, coupled with a powerful sense of justice. His fearsome reputation was such that he was a notorious delinquent in his own school days, and his name alone is said to be enough to intimidate bullies and local organizations. This side of him carries into his parenting, as he firmly believes that a person, regardless of gender, must be strong and never lose to anyone. He personally trained his daughter Tomo and her childhood friend Junichiro Kubota from a young age, hoping they would one day take over the family business.

On the other hand, Gorō is incredibly innocent, pure-hearted, and overwhelmingly shy when it comes to his wife, Akemi Aizawa. He has known Akemi since their school days, where she was the only one who could reign in his delinquent behavior, but he is still unable to hold a normal conversation with her. His bashfulness is so extreme that if Akemi speaks to him at close range, he will blush furiously and faint on the spot. This embarrassment is so powerful that he has unintentionally been living apart from his wife for years, eating and sleeping at his dojo to avoid the overwhelming feeling of her presence, leading to questions about how they ever had a child together. Despite his intimidating nature around his daughter and her friends, he is completely powerless against his wife.

Gorō’s primary motivation stems from his strong sense of justice and his desire to see his daughter succeed as a martial artist. He is deeply invested in Tomo’s training and was notably disappointed when she quit his dojo to join the school's karate club. His relationship with Tomo is one of a stern but caring teacher, though his own uncompromising and intense nature has inadvertently contributed to her struggle to express her femininity. He also serves as a mentor to Junichiro, training him alongside Tomo. Furthermore, Gorō possesses a keen insight into people's character, accurately assessing the true natures of individuals like Carol Olston and Kousuke Misaki upon their first meeting.

In terms of development, Gorō's character remains largely static but serves as a comedic and thematic anchor, representing the pinnacle of martial strength and exaggerated masculinity against which his daughter often measures herself. His notable abilities extend beyond his physical prowess as the creator of the Aizawa-ryu style, a form of karate that is fundamentally different from existing schools and is described as a comprehensive martial art. He is also capable of incredible feats of speed and strength, such as rushing to his wife's side during an earthquake.
