Description
Isuzu Koimari is a sixteen-year-old high school student who serves as a shrine maiden at Reiji Shrine in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. She is a highly capable and popular individual, known for managing a significant social media presence with a large following on Instagram, which has led to frequent appearances on television and collaborations with the local tourism office.

In terms of personality, Isuzu often presents a calm, cool, and direct demeanor that can initially come across as standoffish or intimidating. Her blunt manner was enough to make the shy elf Elda freeze up when they first met. Despite this formidable exterior, Isuzu is deeply thoughtful and considerate of others. She demonstrates this caring nature through small but meaningful gestures, such as bringing local sweets to help Elda feel comfortable. She is also described as determined, reliable, and organized, often taking on a leadership role.

Isuzu’s primary motivation and a core aspect of her character is her profound admiration for Haira, the elf enshrined at Reiji Shrine. This admiration began when Isuzu met Haira at the age of eight and was inspired by the elf's motherly kindness. This inspiration led her to start her Instagram account and fueled a dedicated hobby: from the age of ten, Isuzu began creating handmade photo albums featuring Haira, a collection that has since grown to an impressive two hundred volumes. However, their relationship is not without conflict, primarily stemming from Haira’s severe and disruptive gambling addiction, which Isuzu has to manage and has been a source of tension between them.

In the story, Isuzu serves as a contrasting figure to the main duo, Elda and Koito. Her relationship with Haira is initially presented as more formal, with Isuzu harboring a strong sense of idolization for her elf, similar to how Koito once viewed Elda. A key moment in her development occurs when she asks Koito if it might be better for shrine maidens not to become too friendly with their elves, reflecting a concern over the brief human lifespan compared to the immortal elves and the potential for emotional pain. This introspection highlights her deep-seated care for Haira, as her strictness and efforts to manage Haira’s flaws stem from a place of genuine compassion.

Isuzu’s abilities are twofold. She is a skilled and dependable shrine maiden who performs her sacred duties with competence. Simultaneously, she is a savvy social media influencer, adept at managing her public image and large follower base to promote both herself and the local region. Her key relationships include her complex bond with Haira, her role as an admired figure for Koito Koganei who looks up to her success, and her initially tense but ultimately friendly association with Elda, whom she quickly learned to put at ease.
