Description
Aggath is a character from the Beast Tamer anime who serves as a warrior and former member of the Hero's party led by Arios. He is a bald man who wears silver knight armor and wields an enormous claymore or greatsword in battle, showcasing considerable physical strength for a human.
As a frontline fighter, Aggath takes on enemy attacks and acts as a shield to protect his allies. He possesses a more rational and reasonable judgment compared to some other members of the Hero's party. While he initially deems the beast tamer Rein Shroud useless and looks down on him along with the rest of the party, Aggath does recognize and value Rein's navigation and reconnaissance skills. This practical side of his personality leads him to later make an appeal to bring Rein back to the party to serve as a navigator through the Lost Forest.
Aggath's role in the story primarily revolves around his time in the Hero's party and its eventual collapse. After Rein is banished from the party, Aggath and his companions find themselves unable to progress without the beast tamer's skills. When they encounter Rein and his new companions, a fight breaks out in which Aggath duels Kanade. Despite his great physical strength, Aggath is easily overwhelmed by Kanade's massive and spontaneous attacks, and she defeats him without even using her full power. Following this defeat, Aggath acknowledges Rein's strength and suggests returning to the party on his own initiative, but Rein refuses this offer.
Later in the narrative, Aggath becomes devastated when he, along with Mina and Leanne, is betrayed by the hero Arios. Suspicious expenses arise when Arios purchases a ring regarding the demon clan, leading Aggath to doubt his former leader. Upon realizing Arios' true and filthy nature, Aggath makes a decisive choice to betray Arios rather than seeking vengeance against Rein. He loses all respect for his so-called friend and attempts to kill him to avenge the death of Leanne. However, this attempt fails. Aggath is exposed by Monica Eclair, and he is subsequently decapitated by demons under Arios' orders.
Aggath's death has significant consequences for the remaining characters. His demise, along with Leanne's death, causes Mina to also turn against Arios and form an alliance with Rein Shroud. This chain of events marks the complete disbandment of the original Hero's party. Aggath is portrayed as a character who, despite his initial arrogance and dismissal of Rein, ultimately chooses the path of loyalty and justice when confronted with the hero's true treachery, even at the cost of his own life.
