Description
Edward Avalache is the 20th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, a figure whose life story is defined by tragedy, deep compassion for the weak, and a subsequent fall from grace that transformed him into a bitter antagonist. He is an elderly man with white hair, a sharp, thick mustache, and a beard, his aged face showing numerous lining. His attire consists of a light blue outfit with white long gloves and boots, worn beneath a large cape with white fur lining that covers the left side of his body and prominently displays the medal of the Wizard King. Before becoming a Magic Knight, Edward Avalache was a devout priest. He had no initial interest in a martial career, instead spending his time in churches within the Common and Forsaken Realms, where he witnessed firsthand the harsh conditions faced by those with little to no magic power. Moved by their suffering, he left his home to become a priest himself, taking in orphaned children and dedicating his life to helping the weak and feeble.
Ten years into his work, tragedy struck during a war between the Clover and Diamond Kingdoms when his orphanage was raided and the children were killed. For the first time, an enraged Edward used his magic to destroy the enemy forces responsible. Witnessing his own powerlessness in that moment, he joined the Magic Knights to gain the strength needed to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again. His generosity, love for the common people, and immense strength earned him widespread respect, allowing him to climb the ranks and eventually become the 20th Wizard King. Despite his popularity with the populace, the royals and nobles vehemently opposed his ambition to eliminate the boundaries between the Noble, Common, and Forsaken Realms, seeing this goal as a threat to their power. Through their political scheming, they successfully conspired to have his title as Wizard King revoked.
Stripped of his position and everything he had worked for, Edward lost his faith in God and the system. Seeking vengeance and believing that eliminating the corrupt royals and nobles was the only way to save the kingdom from further corruption, he formed a resistance group. However, his rebellion was short-lived; he was captured and executed for his insurrection. Centuries later, Edward was revived from death by the 27th Wizard King, Conrad Leto, who used the combined power of his Key Magic and the sword Elsdocia. Edward agreed to join Conrad, alongside two other former Wizard Kings, Princia Funnybunny and Jester Garandros, in a plan to destroy the existing Clover Kingdom and build a new, equitable one in its place.
In personality, Edward is stoic, sophisticated, and carries an impassive expression, rarely smiling. He fights to carry out his own version of justice and supports Conrad Leto's goal of creating a world without suffering. Despite being an antagonist, he possesses a great sense of honor. During his battle with Noelle Silva and the Black Bulls, he offers them a chance to flee, stating he can tell they possess pure hearts and are not corrupt nobles. He detests only nobles and criminals. Upon his defeat at Noelle's hands, he expresses gratitude and hope, realizing that a royal who can empathize with the weak like her means that his ideal world might still be possible in the present era.
As the 20th Wizard King, Edward possesses immense magical power and was once the strongest Magic Knight of his era. He is proficient in Mana Zone, allowing him to control all the mana in an area to increase the power and range of his spells. His grimoire is a three-leaf clover, and he wields Ice Wedge Magic, an attribute that allows him to generate and manipulate ice. This magic is not simply freezing; it carries themes of judgment and binding. His notable spells include World End Church, also known as the Confession Chamber of the Frozen World, which creates a massive dome-shaped territory that freezes everything inside and drastically lowers the temperature, and World End Martyr, or Guardian of the Frozen World, which summons a colossal, angelic ice golem to attack his enemies. His magic repertoire is considered highly destructive, capable of freezing the magma of a volcano in a powerful magical zone.
