Description
Noriyuki Yamaguchi is a second-year student at Kyoto Fushimi High School and a member of its bicycle racing club. He is a sprinter by specialty, though his most notable role on the team is as a steady and reliable puller who provides stability during races. Physically, he is a teenage boy with black hair that reaches his ears and black eyes.
Yamaguchi has a quiet, enduring, and friendly personality. He prefers to stay in the background and actively avoids drawing attention to himself, often shying away from the frontline of competition. This tendency to hide his presence also makes him somewhat of a pushover; he tends to accept requests even when he is unsure about them or does not like them. Despite his reserved nature, he is capable of displaying great endurance and loyalty to his team.
His primary motivation stems from a sense of duty to his club. He is given the responsibility by teammate Koutarou Ishigaki to act as a check on the volatile Akira Midousuji, the team’s captain, should Midousuji go too far. Yamaguchi initially lacks confidence in his ability to fulfill this role, but he shows a willingness to accept it, reflecting his underlying desire to support his teammates even when he doubts himself.
Over time, Yamaguchi undergoes significant development. By his third year, he builds greater resistance in his legs, enabling him to endure Midousuji’s rigorous training orders. Kazuho Funatsu, a rival from Sohoku, notes that Yamaguchi is excellent at pulling and exercises a solid sense of stability in the paceline. This growth transforms him from a passive, background character into a more resilient and dependable rider who can handle both physical demands and the pressure of team expectations.
In the story of Yowamushi Pedal Limit Break, Yamaguchi serves as a supporting member of the Kyoto Fushimi squad. His role often involves pacing the team, maintaining a steady tempo, and being a steadying presence amid the aggressive strategies of his captain. His key relationships include his interactions with Midousuji, whose demanding leadership pushes him to improve, and with Funatsu, who recognizes and respects his abilities. His development is marked by a gradual increase in both physical toughness and personal confidence, allowing him to contribute meaningfully to his team’s efforts.
