Description
Jeremy is a character from the anime Duel Masters King!, recognizable by his striking appearance which features yellow pompadour hair and black sunglasses. He stands 175cm tall and weighs 79kg, presenting the image of a delinquent or a tough, unruly individual. Jeremy is a cyborg, though his external appearance does not readily reveal this fact. He often refers to himself with the self-appointed title of Destruction King Lightning Jeremy.

In terms of personality, Jeremy is defined by his aggressive and violent demeanor. His catchphrase and guiding principle is to break or destroy anything and everything, a trait that leads him to act recklessly. Despite his menacing look and grandiose title, his initial dueling ability does not match his intimidating presence. Before joining the main antagonistic group, he was a weak duelist who practiced what he called Destruction Duel, a style that completely ignored defense in favor of attacking creatures and shields. Consequently, he suffered consecutive losses, even against ordinary elementary school children.

Jeremy's primary motivation is a deep-seated, powerful hunger for strength. This raw desire is noticed by Jendol, who sees potential in him. After being easily defeated by the protagonist, Joe Kirifuda, Jendol warps Jeremy to his mansion and provides him with a new Dispecter deck, including the powerful card Necroside, the Violet Linked God. This gift allows Jeremy to evolve as a duelist, becoming significantly stronger and pushing Joe to the brink of defeat in their rematch, a feat no other character had achieved up to that point in the series. Although he ultimately loses this second duel, his performance earns him an invitation to become a member of the villainous group known as the Gottles, where he is designated as Gottle 4.

Jeremy's role in the story is that of a rival and a member of the Gottle organization. His key relationships are primarily with his fellow Gottles members and the protagonist. He interacts with Joe as a recurring opponent, facing him multiple times. He also works alongside his comrades Esper Magi and Masuo Bucho, often forming a comedic trio that appears in the series' ending theme, though this lighter side is more prominent in the anime than in the original manga. In the manga adaptation, his role differs slightly, as he is a member of the Gottles from the beginning.

Jeremy's character development centers on the discrepancy between his self-image and his actual fighting style. While he continues to proclaim his allegiance to a destructive and aggressive dueling philosophy, his practical approach changes dramatically after joining the Gottles. His deck focuses on the Dispector race and combines the civilizations of light, darkness, and fire. After obtaining the key card Valhalzak, the Linked Extinction Seal, his dueling style becomes highly defensive, utilizing strategies such as blockers, adding shields to his protection, and employing tap kill techniques. This defensive specialization is a stark contrast to his earlier reckless methods and his loud, destructive persona.

Jeremy demonstrates several notable abilities as a duelist. His most significant skill is his adaptability and growth; after receiving a new deck, he quickly learns to use it effectively enough to become a serious threat. His signature cards include Necroside, the Violet Linked God, Valhalzak, the Linked Extinction Seal, and the awakened form XXDDZ. His tactics often involve leveraging the abilities of these powerful linked creatures. In his final on-screen duel against Uraraka Momo, he shows a return to a more aggressive style by utilizing the powered breaker ability of Valhalzak, but he still suffers defeat. Despite his power, Jeremy is ultimately a character who experiences a string of losses; his full record in the series consists of five duels with zero victories, with defeats at the hands of Joe, Boltz, and Momo.
