Description
Fianna Tierley is a 24-year-old woman who serves as the communications chief for the Azatos interstellar research team. Hailing from an advanced alien civilization, her primary role on the spaceship Sleil involves analysis of planetary languages and facilitating contact with newly discovered worlds. She is recognized as a genius in linguistic analysis, most famously for accomplishing the remarkable feat of translating every language on Earth in just seven days. Her proficiency is such that she can read Japanese magazines, write formal presentations, and understand complex proverbs and culturally specific names as if she were a native speaker, though concepts that do not exist on her home planet, such as allergies and certain fluffy onomatopoeic expressions, initially present a challenge for her to translate or fully grasp.

In terms of personality, Fianna is depicted as a caring, hard-working, and exceptionally reliable individual. She naturally assumes a protective, big sister-like role within the research team, always looking out for her colleagues and offering support. However, her composure and professionalism stand in stark contrast to her deep and enthusiastic love for cute creatures, particularly Earth animals. This passion emerged after she encountered Yozora, a cat belonging to a fellow team member, which completely charmed her. Her desire to befriend pets is intense, yet it often proves counterproductive; her strong enthusiasm can overwhelm animals, causing them to shy away or react coldly to her advances. This rejection causes her considerable sadness, although it does little to diminish her determination. She has even been known to try imitating cat-like behavior in her earnest attempts to bridge the gap with these animals, an act that undercuts her usual air of authority.

Fianna's motivations are deeply tied to her work and her newfound fascination with Earth's biosphere. Initially focused on communication, her role expands to include the study and care of Earth's creatures. She is the one who proposes the idea of keeping Earth animals aboard the spaceship Sleil, which leads to the development of a large space zoo. A significant development in her personal story occurs when she adopts a male Pomeranian dog named Riku. Riku, who needed a new home after his previous owner became sick, is described as a magic dog due to his extraordinarily friendly and charming personality, which quickly wins over everyone on the team. With the help of the biology team, Riku becomes the first Earth animal to be kept on the ship, finally providing Fianna with a pet whose affection she can reliably enjoy.

Fianna's key relationships revolve around her team. She looks up to and assists Liza Luna, and it is through helping Liza and interacting with her cat that Fianna's obsession with cuteness begins. She is a central figure on the research squad, functioning as both an expert in her field and an emotional anchor for her peers. Her development throughout the story sees her moving from a purely professional linguistic expert to a character whose personal passions drive significant narrative developments, such as the creation of the space zoo and the integration of Earth pets into the interstellar crew's daily life. Her notable abilities remain centered on her unparalleled gift for translation and language, a skill that is fundamental to the team's mission and their interactions with humanity.
