Description
Pipopa (ピポパ) is a female Cocotama in the anime Kira Kira Happy Hirake! Cocotama. Cocotama are small gods born from everyday objects that people have treasured, and Pipopa is the spirit of a telephone, a detail woven into her whole design. She carries the title Telephone Goddess. Her body is pink and ivory with a giraffe-like silhouette, though some portrayals give her a cow-like look; in either case she is recognizable by her dark mauve-tipped paws and horns, light pink cheeks, gentle mauve eyes, and a tail shaped like a telephone, which echoes the object she was born from.

Pipopa was once part of the Cocotama community of Sakura Town. About five years before the events of the series, she and a fellow Cocotama named Penne moved from Sakura Town to Aozora Town, and the two lived there for a time before returning. Their return to their original town is connected to the appearance of the Legendary Cocotama Contractor, a human chosen to work with the Cocotama who is able to use magic; Pipopa and Penne come back during this period and rejoin the town's Cocotama circle.

Within the story, Pipopa is a supporting character whose presence is tied to that returning generation of Cocotama. Her most prominent relationship is with Penne, her longtime traveling companion, and the two are closely associated as a pair. She also belongs to the broader group of Cocotama connected to the Legendary Contractor, sharing in their efforts to bring small everyday wonders to the people of the town.

Like other Cocotama, Pipopa can use the magic common to her kind, which is cast by chanting special words while shaking the hips. Her telephone origin gives her a natural link to communication and to the idea of connecting people, which matches the gentle and muted tones of her design. Her development in the series centers on her return after years away and on finding her place once more within the community she had left behind.
