Description
Chima is a small, blue-furred creature resembling a fennec fox, distinguished by its notably large ears. While its exact gender is unknown, its appearance includes black eyes and blue or green-tinged fur. Chima is not a human character but rather an animal belonging to a rare and specific species known as the Czeschka maticarna.

The creature's background begins at an auction, where it was being sold as an item. During this event, it encountered Marlya Noel, who was looking at the various wares. Chima and Marlya took an immediate liking to each other, and Marlya petted the small animal. Seizing an opportunity when the door of its cage was found to be loose, Chima managed to escape from its confinement. Following this escape, Chima began to follow Marlya, effectively attaching itself to her. Later, when Marlya and Free Underbar visited the character Marco Bellwood, he recognized the creature's species. Finding the full scientific name too long and difficult to pronounce, Marlya decided to give it the simpler name Chima.

In terms of personality, Chima displays the typical behaviors of a small, independent animal. It acts on its own instincts and shows affection and recognition for Marlya, having chosen to follow her after their first meeting. Its presence in the story often provides a sense of calm and an element of unpredictability, as it tends to act on its own whims rather than following direct commands.

Chima's primary role in the story is that of a companion and a specialized support asset to Marlya Noel and the other members of Dorothea, the organization that deals with fairy-related crimes. Despite its small size, it possesses a notable ability that proves crucial to the team: the power to discern and track fairies by their distinct smell. This skill makes Chima a valuable asset for investigative work, as it can lead the main characters to the location of fairies or individuals connected to them when its demands for attention are heeded.

Its key relationships are centered on Marlya Noel, who acts as its caretaker and owner. Chima also exists alongside other main characters like Free Underbar and interacts with other individuals in Dorothea, though its bond is strongest with Marlya. Its development throughout the series is not one of personal growth through dialogue, but rather a gradual revelation of its value. Initially appearing to be little more than a simple pet, its unique tracking skills are discovered and recognized, establishing it as an important member of the group whose abilities can drive the plot forward. The creature makes notable appearances in the second season as well, continuing to accompany Marlya.

Chima's most notable ability is its olfactory sense, which is specifically attuned to fairies. As a member of the Czeschka maticarna species, it has the capability to smell and distinguish between different fairies, a trait that is described as very rare. This allows it to serve as a living tracking device, finding fairies or those who have been in contact with them in a world where such beings are a central political and military element. This ability is its main contribution to the story, as it lacks any combat capabilities or human speech.
