Aoi Koga
Description
Aoi Koga is a Japanese voice actress born on August 24, 1993, in Saga Prefecture, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. Her interest in voice acting began in childhood, sparked by puppet segments on the television program "Okaasan to Issho" and her love for anime such as "Cardcaptor Sakura" and "Ojamajo Doremi". Despite her shy nature, she pursued this career path, taking acting lessons at a vocational school in Fukuoka before enrolling in and graduating from the training school of 81 Produce.
Koga's professional career began in 2014. Her first credited anime role was an unnamed woman in the 2015 series "Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers". For several years, she voiced a wide array of minor and supporting characters, a period that helped build her experience. Her first leading roles came in 2017, playing Sora Kaneshiro in "Angel's 3Piece!" and Yuri Miyata in "Two Car". For "Angel's 3Piece!", she was also part of the musical group Baby's Breath with her co-stars.
Koga's career-defining role arrived in 2019 when she was cast as Kaguya Shinomiya in the hit anime series "Kaguya-sama: Love is War". Her performance as the proud but romantically inexperienced student council vice president garnered widespread acclaim and brought her significant recognition. For this role, she won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 14th Seiyu Awards in 2020. She later made a cameo appearance as a movie theater employee in the live-action film adaptation of the series.
Following this success, Koga was cast in numerous prominent roles. In 2021, she voiced the titular character, Shōko Komi, in "Komi Can't Communicate," a role that required her to convey emotion with very little dialogue. The same year, she played Aki Shino in "Remake Our Life!", Kaede Yūki in "Full Dive," and Mona Tsukishiro in "My Senpai Is Annoying". She also voiced Rose in "How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Omega" and Kanako in "180-Byō de Kimi no Mimi o Shiawase ni Dekiru ka?".
Her workload continued to expand in 2022 and 2023. She reprised her role as Kaguya Shinomiya in subsequent seasons of the anime, including "Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic-". She joined the casts of "In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki" as Ajisai, "Shine Post" as Natalia, and "Blue Period" as Yamamoto. In 2023, she voiced the character Noir in the series "Synduality: Noir" and Hiyori Munenashi in "BUILD-DIVIDE -#FFFFFF- CODE WHITE". She also took on the role of Princess Ellee / Cure Majesty in the long-running franchise "Hirogaru Sky! Precure".
Koga's filmography also extends to anime films and original net animations (ONAs). Her film roles include Ange in the "Princess Principal: Crown Handler" film series and a return to the role of Kaguya Shinomiya in "Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss That Never Ends-". In ONAs, she voiced Mikura Sado in "Kakegurui Twin" and Nowani in "Cute Executive Officer". Beyond anime, she is also widely recognized for her video game work, most notably as the voice of Paimon in the globally popular game "Genshin Impact". Other game roles include Rozaliya in "Honkai Impact 3rd," Lobelia in "Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation," and Noah Brown in "Action Taimanin". She has also contributed to dubbing, providing the Japanese voice for Qiao Ling in the Chinese anime "Link Click".
Koga has cultivated friendships within the voice acting industry, including with fellow cast members from "Kaguya-sama: Love is War" like Yumiri Hanamori. Outside of work, she has an interest in playing the drums, which she learned in junior high, and a unique hobby of photographing manhole covers. Her talent has been recognized beyond the Seiyu Awards, including winning Best Voice Actress at the Newtype Anime Awards.
