Description
Ange le Carré is the central protagonist of the spy drama, operating as a field agent for the Commonwealth of Albion's intelligence organization, Control. She is a member of Team White Pigeon and, as part of her cover, attends the prestigious Queen's Mayfaire Academy, where she presents herself as a shy and clumsy scholarship student from the colony of Incognia.

Ange’s true identity is far more complex. She was born as Charlotte, the legitimate princess of the Kingdom of Albion. As a lonely seven-year-old girl, she ventured into the palace gardens with the intention of disappearing into a deep well, but instead met a peasant girl who was her exact double. The two became close friends, spending their time together and playing pranks by switching places. On the day they decided to swap roles so the princess could see the outside world, the London Revolution erupted. The uprising divided the nation with a massive wall, trapping the two girls on opposite sides in their reversed identities. The true princess, now living as Ange le Carré in the Commonwealth, vowed to reunite with her friend, who had assumed her place as Princess Charlotte of the Kingdom.

Ange’s personality is defined by her profession. She is a consummate liar, a trait the head writer deliberately chose to make her an interesting character in a spy series. She possesses a tough exterior, is highly analytical, and can be ruthless when a mission demands it, even preparing to kill if necessary. She is also a master of code-switching, able to adopt entirely different personas to suit her objectives. At school, she plays the part of an unassuming, clumsy girl, explaining to her partner Dorothy that everything is easier when people underestimate you. For other missions, she can just as easily adopt the persona of a rough, standoffish delinquent to facilitate an investigation. She often engages in playful, deadpan deception with her teammates, most notably claiming to be a native of the Black Lizard Planet. This particular lie serves as a signal to the audience and other characters that she is fabricating a story, and she uses it to deflect uncomfortable questions or distance herself from her painful past.

Despite her cold and detached demeanor, Ange reveals a softer, more vulnerable side when she is with Princess Charlotte. The bond between them is the core of her motivation. Ange did not become a spy to serve the Commonwealth, but purely as a means to be sent across the London Wall so she could reunite with her childhood friend. She initially planned for the two of them to run away together to Casablanca, where she had already purchased a white house. However, Princess Charlotte refused this offer, expressing her own desire to become queen and tear down the wall that separates their nation, fulfilling the promise the original princess made on the day of the revolution. Ange, who finds it nearly impossible to refuse the princess or lie to her, reluctantly agreed to this new path, even if it meant continuing to deceive everyone, including herself.

In the Crown Handler film series, Ange’s role deepens as the political conspiracy becomes more personal. She is tasked with investigating Winston, the Grand Chamberlain, who is revealed to be a double agent for a third party. In a moment that highlights her secret burden, Ange confronts Winston and offers to help him escape in exchange for keeping her true identity as the princess a secret. Winston accepts, but is shot by an unknown sniper, dying with a warning that her own lies may lead her to the same fate. As the plot unfolds, Ange and her team work to stop the schemes of Richard, a royal who assassinates the Crown Prince to seize power. Ange goes undercover as a maid to protect the new heir, Princess Mary, and ultimately agrees to a dangerous plan to help her defect to the Commonwealth. The operation fails, leading to the entire team being imprisoned. In her cell, Ange is left with a piercing gaze, having promised to protect Princess Charlotte even at the cost of her own life.

Ange possesses a range of abilities befitting a top-tier spy. She has a photographic memory, having memorized the files of every student at Queen's Mayfaire Academy. She is skilled with firearms, particularly her signature Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver, and is proficient in lockpicking, driving, and infiltration. Her most notable piece of equipment is the C-Ball, a portable Cavorite-powered device that can manipulate gravity, allowing her to make objects or people weightless. Her character design reflects her dual heritage; the braided part of her hair represents her royal lineage, while her other design elements express the contrasting, rougher life she has led as a spy.
