Description
Domon Ishijima is a student at the same high school as the main character and is known throughout the school for his incredible physical prowess. Other students fear him, giving him the nickname Ogre because of his monstrous strength for a teenager. Despite his intimidating reputation, Domon has a caring side and helps his mother run her flower shop when he is not fighting. His most distinctive features are his large, muscular build, his mohawk hairstyle, and the nose ring he wears, which is actually his first major magical tool.

Before the main events of the story, Domon was an unbeatable fighter until he met a girl named Fuko Kirisawa, who consistently defeated him. He fell in love with her, and in an attempt to impress her, he famously cut his hair into the mohawk style after she suggested it. Eventually, Fuko agreed to accept Domon as a friend but gave him a new goal to prove himself: he would have to defeat Recca before he could ever challenge her again. Domon took this challenge to heart and constantly sought out Recca for a fight, wanting to not only beat him to impress Fuko but also to make Recca his personal ninja. Despite his many attempts, he was never able to defeat Recca.

When Fuko is kidnapped and brainwashed by a mysterious woman named Kage Hoshi, Domon puts aside his rivalry and fights alongside Recca to rescue her. Their successful alliance marks a turning point, and from that moment on, Domon, Fuko, and Recca become close allies, his role shifting from a rival to a valued and trusted friend. Throughout the story, Domon struggles with an inferiority complex, feeling that he is the weakest member of the group. This insecurity drives him to work harder and prove his worth, especially during a major tournament arc where he constantly feels the need to demonstrate that he is a capable fighter.

Domon has several defining personality traits. He is known for being reckless and not particularly intelligent, often relying on brute force rather than strategy. However, this simple-mindedness is counterbalanced by his most powerful asset: an immense and unbreakable willpower. This mental strength proves so formidable that it allows him to resist powerful illusions and even thwart an enemy's attempt to completely erase his memories. Another one of his notable, often played for humor, is his perverted nature. He is unashamedly attracted to women and is frequently shown having lewd thoughts, especially about Fuko, whom he openly and constantly proclaims his love for, much to her annoyance. Despite his one-sided romantic pursuit, a strong bond exists between him and Fuko, with her belief in him serving as a key source of his strength.

Domon wields several magical tools, known as madogu, throughout the series. His first is the Dosei no Wa, also known as the Ring of Saturn, which is given to him by Kage Hoshi. This madogu enhances his already formidable physical strength and endurance, and it shines brighter when his willpower rises. He wears this madogu as his signature nose ring. Later, he acquires the Kuchibashi Oh, or Beak King, which is a large, super-sharp claw-like weapon attached to a long chain that he uses to grab or strike opponents. His final madogu is the Tetsugan, or Iron Ball. He obtains it from an old man and accidentally swallows it, which turns out to be the correct way to use it. Once activated, the Tetsugan transmutes his entire body into living iron for short periods, granting him incredible, near-impenetrable durability.
