TV-Series
Description
Joker, whose real name is unknown and whose codename was given by the Special Fire Force for investigative purposes, is a mysterious and highly skilled pyrokinetic. He is a 28-year-old male, born on June 14th, standing 183 centimeters tall with type A blood. Formerly known as 52 or Five-Two, he was once a member of the Holy Sol's Shadow, the secret assassination squad of the Holy Sol's Church.

Joker's personality is complex and fundamentally defined by a cynical, sadistic, and manipulative nature. He operates entirely on his own terms, viewing the world as a cruel and unjust stage upon which he is both a player and an observer. He is deeply curious about the true nature of his world and pursues this truth with a ruthless, amoral dedication, abandoning societal norms, ethics, and laws as he sees fit. Joker enjoys toying with his opponents, both physically and emotionally, and is known to whistle or sing during battles, yet he can treat personal vendettas with deadly seriousness. He considers himself a dark hero or an anti-hero, aiming to expose the world's corruption through extreme methods rather than performing traditional acts of heroism.

His primary motivation is to uncover the truth that the Tokyo Empire and the Holy Sol's Church are hiding about the world, a quest that overrides all other concerns. This drive stems from his traumatic past as an orphan raised in the Holy Sol's Shadow, where he was subjected to brutal abuse by his captain, who sought to break his spirit and deny his individuality by destroying his only memento, a worn-out watch. A pivotal moment occurred during a mission with Leonard Burns, where an encounter with an Infernal forced an Adolla Link, causing him to lose his left eye. During this link, he witnessed a fragment of the world's hidden truth and retrieved a piece of ignited stone from the Adolla realm, confirming the experience was real and cementing his belief that the church's teachings were lies. After deserting from the Shadows during the fire that killed Shinra's mother and abducted his brother Shō, Joker was briefly taken in by a kind family. However, the Holy Sol's Shadow tracked him down and massacred this family, shattering his last chance at a normal life and solidifying his cynical world view and his hatred for the corrupt system.

In the story, Joker serves as a chaotic, wild-card agent who operates from the shadows to manipulate events toward his goal of revelation. He initially appears as an antagonist, attacking the Rookie Fire Soldier Games and confronting Shinra Kusakabe. However, after witnessing Shinra's defiant, twisted smile in the face of death, Joker becomes intrigued and reassigns him from a target to a key piece in his plans. He subsequently appoints himself as a guardian, occasionally appearing to provide Shinra and Company 8 with crucial information about the Evangelist, the Adolla, and the hidden truths they seek, all while advancing his own agenda.

Joker has several key relationships that define his past and present. His connection with Leonard Burns is significant; Burns was a mentor figure who looked after him during their time in the church's organizations, and their shared Adolla Link created a complex bond between them, even as they chose opposing paths to confront the world's truth. He also forms a secret partnership with Viktor Licht, a scientist from Haijima Industries, as both are determined to expose the empire's secrets. Joker's relationship with Shinra Kusakabe is central, as he sees the young fire soldier's potential and wants to guide him to become a Devil who can help burn away the world's lies.

Joker's character develops from a prodigious but abused child soldier into a ruthless and cynical truth-seeker. After his escape and the murder of his adoptive family, he fully embraced his persona, dedicating his entire existence to proving the world's cruelty and uncovering its secrets. Over time, his interactions with Shinra and his direct battles against his former masters in the Holy Sol's Shadow allow him to directly confront his past, culminating in his defeat of the captain who tormented him.

Joker possesses formidable abilities as a pyrokinetic, though his specific generation is not clearly defined. His primary technique involves generating and manipulating flames to form solid projectiles shaped like playing cards, which he uses for offense and distraction. He is an extremely skilled hand-to-hand combatant, possessing incredible physical strength and speed, able to exchange blows with powerful fighters like Leonard Burns and Shō Kusakabe. He also utilizes a special powder, provided to him by Viktor Licht, which he can ignite to cause powerful, tactical explosions.
