Description
Pudding Fong is the English-rendered name of Purin Fong, also known as Bu-Ling Huang, a main heroine of Tokyo Mew Mew New. She is the fourth member of the Mew Mew team and transforms into Mew Pudding after her DNA is combined with that of a golden lion tamarin, a small monkey species. She is an eleven-year-old elementary school student and the youngest of the heroines in the group.

In terms of background, Pudding is a natural performer. In Tokyo Mew Mew New, her acrobatic talent is rooted in her admiration for her mother, who was a trapeze artist. She is an accomplished circus performer, comfortable with feats such as balancing on a large ball, breathing fire, and spinning dishes. Despite her young age, she is also practical and capable, knowing how to clean well and cook reasonably well. When the team works at Café Mew Mew, she performs tricks while waitressing, which frequently leads to broken dishes.

Her personality is highly energetic, playful, and mischievous. Her behavior is often compared to that of a monkey, and the other characters agree that her monkey DNA matches her personality perfectly; the more refined member of the team considers her quite immature. Pudding speaks in an idiosyncratic way, referring to herself in the third person and ending many sentences with the catchphrase na no da. She affectionately addresses her teammates and allies as older sisters or older brother figures, using forms such as onee-chan and onii-chan. She is also very fond of money.

Her motivations are tied to both her duty and her personal passions. As a Mew Mew, she joins the other heroines in protecting the Earth from aliens who create monstrous chimera anima, and she contributes to the team through her fearless, high-energy approach. At the same time, her love of performing and her admiration for her mother drive her dedication to acrobatics and entertainment.

Within the story, Pudding serves as the team's youngest and most playful member, bringing energy and levity to the group while proving herself dependable in battle. Over the course of the series, she gradually shows that beneath her childish enthusiasm she is a reliable fighter, learning to balance her love of play with her responsibilities as a Mew Mew. Her key relationships are with the other four Mew Mews, who treat her like a younger sister, and she in turn looks up to them. She also holds a warm, respectful attitude toward the adults leading the project, whom she addresses with affectionate older-brother terms.

Her notable abilities come from the golden lion tamarin DNA within her. She gains extraordinary agility, flexibility, speed, and endurance, and her fighting style is built around acrobatics and nimble movement. Her signature item is the Pudding Ring, a ring-shaped tool she uses in combat. In her transformed state, her appearance changes as well: her golden-brown hair becomes lemon yellow, and she grows brown ears and a tail with a curled tip, reflecting her monkey heritage.
