Description
Kang Horyang, also known as Beniamino Ilmar, is a character introduced on the 20th Floor of the Tower during the events of the second part of the story. He is a tall and physically imposing young man, usually seen with his upper body wrapped in black bandages secured with buttons. His most distinctive feature is a mysterious, floating mark above his right shoulder, which usually takes the shape of a blue wing and gives him an appearance likened to a one-winged angel. This mark is not static and changes form based on his emotions and intentions, turning red when he is embarrassed or shifting into shapes like hearts when he feels attraction.

Horyang has a quiet and reserved demeanor, often coming across as brooding and serious, though he possesses a gentle and kind heart beneath his intimidating exterior. He is a man of few words but demonstrates a strong sense of loyalty and a willingness to protect his companions. However, when provoked, he can become ferocious in combat. His past is shrouded in mystery, and his primary motivation for climbing the Tower is deeply personal: he is searching for a specific person. This quest is of such importance that he once simply knelt and asked to be chosen for a team based solely on this need.

Horyang's background is tied to the Workshop, a secretive organization known for its advanced and often cruel research. As a child, he was one of 99,999 abandoned children sold to the Workshop and used as test subjects in an attempt to create a living Ignition Weapon. He and one other child, Beniamino Cassano, were the sole survivors of those experiments. The two became like brothers, with Horyang looking up to Cassano as a role model, before they were separated and given two halves of a great power, with Horyang becoming known as the Devil of the Right Arm. This traumatic origin explains his physical condition and his obsessive search for Cassano.

Within his team, Horyang forms several key relationships. He joins forces with Ja Wangnan, Hon Akraptor, and the powerful slayer candidate Jyu Viole Grace, initially clashing with Viole in combat before becoming a reliable ally. He develops a friendly rapport with Akraptor after a rocky start, they share a room, and he becomes close to other team members like Prince, Goseng, and Miseng. He is notably kind to the young girl Miseng, allowing her to ride on his shoulders, and he harbors a romantic but pure affection for Yeo Goseng.

Throughout the story, Horyang proves his strength in the team tests. During the Shinsoo Strengthening Test on the 20th Floor, he achieves the highest initial score by punching a testing machine with his enhanced fist. He later reveals his true power as the Devil of the Right Arm in a confrontation with the regular Rapdevil, easily overwhelming him and further hinting at the immense, sealed energy stored under the bandages of his right arm. His abilities come from his wing-like mark, which he can transform for different combat situations. He uses the Red Fist or Fire Fist for powerful offensive punches, the Boot form to increase his speed, and a Shield form for near-invulnerable defense. When he unleashes his full power as the Devil of the Right Arm, his wing transforms into a larger, more demonic shape, significantly boosting his capabilities.

As he continues to climb, his past catches up with him. When a photograph reveals the existence of a person resembling him, it is confirmed to be of Beniamino Cassano, the Devil of the Left Arm. Horyang is forced to reveal his history as a Workshop experiment to his teammates, explaining that he and Cassano are a pair of living Ignition Weapons and that his sole purpose on this journey is to find and reunite with his lost brother. This revelation solidifies his role not just as a powerful fighter, but as a tragic figure driven by a deep-seated need to reclaim the only family he has ever known, a motivation that guides his actions more than the pursuit of power or the top of the Tower.
