Description
Kirakuni trained alongside Vega as a pilot candidate for the giant robot Dendoh, preparing to counter the Galfa Empire's invasion and becoming a key figure within the Earth defense force GEAR. However, during the first Galfa attack, Dendoh autonomously selected elementary school students Ginga Izumo and Hokuto Kusanagi as its pilots instead of the adult candidates. This led to Kirakuni's reassignment from a primary pilot to a support role within GEAR.

He transitioned into a mentorship and operational support role for the young pilots, taking command of GEAR's specialized support aircraft, the Cell Fighter. His duties included aerial reconnaissance, tactically distracting enemy forces, and critically managing Dendoh's power supply during extended battles. This involved executing the vital "Batter Shoot" maneuver: flying the Cell Fighter directly into combat to physically deliver replacement "Hyper Dendoh Batteries" into Dendoh's backpack slots, restoring its energy after depletion.

Kirakuni's effectiveness increased following the Cell Fighter's upgrade to the enhanced Cell Booster, which added wing-mounted lasers and missile pods while retaining the essential battery delivery function. His piloting skill proved crucial during a pivotal battle against the Professional Machine "Bug" and the enemy unit Ogre. With Dendoh immobilized and powerless, Kirakuni executed a precise intervention using the Cell Booster, freeing Dendoh and performing an in-flight battery swap. This enabled Dendoh's recovery and victory, demonstrating Kirakuni's calmness and technical proficiency under pressure.

Beyond mechanical support, Kirakuni served as an emotional anchor and advisor for Ginga and Hokuto, guiding them as they shouldered the responsibility of defending Earth. He offered stability amidst the conflict with the Galfa Empire through a protective, big-brother-like dynamic.

Despite initially expecting to pilot Dendoh himself, Kirakuni fully accepted his support role. He channeled his skills entirely into enabling Ginga and Hokuto's success as Dendoh's pilots, embodying commitment to GEAR's mission regardless of his position.
