Description
"Gear Fighter Dendoh" is a 38-episode mecha anime series that aired from 2000 to 2001. The story is set in a near-future Earth where humanity faces an existential threat from the alien race known as the Veln. The Veln, seeking to conquer Earth, deploy powerful biomechanical weapons called Gears to carry out their invasion. In response, Earth's defense forces develop their own advanced mecha, the Gear Fighter Dendoh, to combat the alien threat.
The protagonist, Yuuta Tomonaga, is a young boy who becomes the chosen pilot of Dendoh after his father, Dr. Tomonaga, sacrifices himself to activate the machine during a Veln attack. Yuuta is joined by his classmate and co-pilot, Kira Daidohji, who shares the responsibility of operating Dendoh. The mecha itself is unique in that it requires two pilots to function effectively, with Yuuta controlling the upper body and Kira managing the lower body. This dual-pilot system becomes a central theme, emphasizing teamwork and synchronization.
As the series progresses, Yuuta and Kira face increasingly formidable Veln Gears, each with unique abilities and strategies. The Veln are led by General Zeheart, a ruthless commander determined to subjugate Earth. Alongside Zeheart is his subordinate, Lady Zera, who harbors her own motivations and complexities. The conflict escalates as the Veln uncover Earth's secrets, including the origins of Dendoh and its connection to ancient alien technology.
The narrative explores themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the human spirit in the face of overwhelming odds. Yuuta and Kira's relationship evolves from initial friction to a strong partnership, reflecting their growth as individuals and as a team. Supporting characters, such as Yuuta's mother and members of Earth's defense forces, contribute to the broader struggle against the Veln, adding depth to the story.
The series balances episodic battles with an overarching plot, culminating in a final confrontation that determines the fate of Earth. The resolution ties together the personal journeys of the characters with the larger conflict, providing a satisfying conclusion to the narrative. "Gear Fighter Dendoh" stands as a classic mecha series that combines action, character development, and a compelling story of humanity's fight for survival.

Hokuto and Ginga enter battle confident after obtaining a Data Weapon while Ogre lacks one. They unleash a Final Attack on Ogre, expecting an easy victory. Ogre dodges the attack and counterattacks aggressively, overwhelming Dendoh. The enemy pilot, Altair, recovers the Viper Whip Data Weapon during the fight. Ogre then inflicts a severe beating on Dendoh, leaving the mecha vulnerable. Vega launches a missile at Ogre just as it prepares its own Final Attack. The explosion causes Ogre's attack to miss its target. Altair orders a retreat before Dendoh's batteries become completely exhausted. Ginga suffers intense psychological trauma from the encounter and can barely walk afterward. The defeat shatters the pilots' overconfidence and demonstrates Altair's tactical superiority. Ginga remains terrified of Ogre and the Viper Whip's Final Attack. The episode ends with the pilots shaken and the enemy having reclaimed a critical weapon. Ogre's retreat sets up a rematch where Ginga must confront his fear to protect the city.
6Courage of the Leo Circle
After Ogre defeats Dendoh in the previous battle,Ginga loses all confidence and stores his Gear Commander in a desk drawer. He cannot concentrate during his martial arts training. His mother Midori scolds him, stating that losing heart is the true defeat. The three Chips locate the Data Weapon Leo Circle inside a shopping center and summon a Machine Beast to capture it. GEAR orders Dendoh to launch, but Ginga refuses to pilot out of fear of Ogre. He learns that his mother and younger sister Otome are trapped at the shopping center. Ginga retrieves his Gear Commander and boards Dendoh. Dendoh engages the Machine Beast Phaetus while protecting civilians who failed to escape. Ogre arrives to secure Leo Circle and prepares a Final Attack. If Dendoh dodges the attack, the blast will hit the civilians, including Ginga's family. Ginga resolves to meet the Final Attack head-on rather than retreat. Both robots fire their Final Attacks simultaneously. Dendoh wins the beam clash, destroys the Machine Beast, and forces Ogre to retreat. Leo Circle escapes to an unknown location, but Ginga regains his fighting spirit. The victory does not capture the Data Weapon, leaving the search for Leo Circle as the next immediate task.
7突撃!ブルホーン
Ginga and Hokuto frequently leave classes and family activities to pilot Dendoh against mechanical beasts. Hokuto feels increasing guilt over the lies he tells his family to explain his absences. His father Keisuke obtains tickets for a soccer match and plans to attend with Hokuto. On the day of the match,a mechanical beast appears, forcing Hokuto to sortie as Dendoh. The battle causes him to miss the entire match. Keisuke shows visible disappointment, deepening Hokuto's internal conflict. Vega consoles Hokuto but reminds him that protecting Dendoh's secret is mandatory. Ginga shows no similar guilt and compartmentalizes his double life easily. His desk drawer contains a hidden pile of failed test papers he cannot show his mother. Keisuke later secures three new tickets for another match. A mechanical beast appears at the harbor, targeting the Data Weapon Bull Horn. Hokuto pushes himself to finish the battle quickly so he can attend the match this time. The beast's attacks set the harbor on fire, and the flames excite Bull Horn into charging the enemy. Dendoh exploits Bull Horn's charge to destroy the mechanical beast. Hokuto arrives at the match in time and enjoys the game with his family. Ginga fails to hide his test papers, and his mother discovers them and punishes him severely. Dendoh acquires Bull Horn as a new data weapon, strengthening its combat options against future mechanical beast attacks.

9The Missing Data Weapons
Emperor Galfa sends a meteorite toward Earth. Hokuto and Ginga destroy it with Dendoh and the Leo Circle, but fragments scatter across the planet. One fragment in the Sahara Desert releases the Machine Fighter Virus. Althea arrives and awakens additional Machine Fighters, including Lock, Bug, and Hang, from other meteorite fragments. The Machine Fighters surround Dendoh and attack simultaneously. GEAR deploys fighter jets to support Dendoh, and Vega instructs the pilots to land on an island. Dendoh uses its turbines to generate a sandstorm, and Vega projects a hologram of Dendoh to mislead Althea and his forces. Althea demands the pilots meet him at a specified location or he will attack major cities. Dendoh arrives carrying a capsule containing a computer energy source. Bug grabs Dendoh's leg turbines to immobilize it while Althea prepares the Viper Whip's final attack. Dendoh throws the capsule into the air, releasing energy that attracts all nearby Data Weapons. Hokuto reclaims the Unicorn Drill, Ginga reclaims the Leo Circle, and Althea reclaims the Viper Whip. Althea orders the Machine Fighters to seize the remaining Data Weapons. Hokuto saves the Flare Dragon from Hang and Virus and claims it. Ginga claims the Gatling Boar after Hokuto uses Firewall to block Lock and Error. Althea claims the Bull Horn when Crash sacrifices itself to shield him from Dendoh's Leo Circle final attack. Dendoh escapes using the Dragon Flare, but Hang strikes Dendoh and knocks it into the ocean. GEAR recovers Dendoh before Althea's forces find it. Ogre's battery runs low, forcing Althea to return to Spiral City to recharge. Althea later orders the Machine Fighters to destroy Hokuto and Ginga's hometown to force Dendoh into the open. Dendoh arrives and lures the Machine Fighters into the ocean and into GEAR's launching tunnel. Dendoh activates the Unicorn Drill final attack, destroying Bug, Lock, Hang, and Virus with a single spiral beam. Althea discovers the destroyed remains and faces the loss of his forces.
10Zero Seconds Before Dendoh's Destruction
Dendoh enters the battle without any Data Weapons, placing Hokuto and Ginga at a severe disadvantage against Altair and six Professional Machines. Altair issues an ultimatum: Dendoh must appear at a specified location or he will destroy cities worldwide. Eris identifies a computer energy source that attracts Data Weapons, and GEAR loads the source into a capsule aboard Dendoh. Altair orders the Professional Machines to restrain Dendoh while Ogre prepares Viper Whip for a Final Attack. Dendoh throws the capsule into the air, and the released energy draws all seven Data Weapons directly to the battlefield. Hokuto and Ginga recapture Unicorn Drill and Leo Circle while Altair secures Bull Horn. Crash sacrifices itself to shield Altair from Dendoh's Leo Circle Final Attack. Ogre fires Bull Horn's Final Attack at Dendoh; Dendoh barely dodges, and a glancing blow from Unicorn Drill damages Ogre's cockpit, knocking out Ginga. GEAR retrieves Dendoh from the ocean before Altair and the Machines can locate it. Altair recharges Ogre and orders the five surviving Professional Machines to attack Hokuto and Ginga's hometown. Dendoh arrives and lures Lock, Bug, Hang, Virus, and Error into GEAR's narrow launching tunnel. Hokuto and Ginga activate Unicorn Drill's Final Attack inside the confined space, destroying all five Machines in a single strike as Altair watches in disbelief. Altair's respect for Dendoh's pilots grows, but Ogre remains operational and Vega prepares to enter the conflict.
11Decisive Match! Dendoh vs. Ogre
Altea loses track of Dendoh due to GEAR's sensor jamming and returns to Spiral City. Ginga suffers injuries from the previous battle and receives treatment at GEAR headquarters. Hokuto and Ellis conclude that only a Final Attack can destroy Ogre and the Machine Fighters, but using it would drain all of Dendoh's energy. Altea launches again and sends the Machine Fighters to attack Star View Town. Vega leaves GEAR headquarters alone to challenge her brother Altea to a one-on-one duel. Hokuto and the team devise a plan to lure all Machine Fighters into Dendoh's launch tube. Dendoh equips Unicorn Drill and fires its Final Attack down the tube, destroying multiple Machine Fighters lined up inside. Ogre and one remaining Machine Fighter avoid the trap and stay outside. Dendoh runs out of energy and faces destruction. Kiyokuni arrives from GEAR UK with the Cell Fighter, a mobile battery replacement unit, and performs a mid-air energy swap. Dendoh regains full power and unleashes repeated Final Attacks against Ogre. A mysterious flying object named Aldebaran appears, retrieves Ogre, and carries it away before Dendoh can land the finishing blow. The unresolved duel between Vega and Altea and the sudden intervention of Aldebaran set the stage for the next confrontation.
12Omen of Crisis
Garufa transports Alta back to their home planet and seals him inside a capsule for memory manipulation. Subaru appears before the imprisoned Alta, calls him his brother, and asks to help him. Subaru also refers to the Garufa Emperor as his father, revealing new family connections within the enemy ranks. On Earth, Ginga, Hokuto, and Eris review their past battles and the Data Weapons they encountered. Eris concludes that gathering all six Data Weapons will unlock the true power of both Dendoh and Ogre. She predicts that Garufa will now target Ginga and Hokuto directly to claim those weapons. At GEAR headquarters, engineers rush development of the Persider underground tank and the Fighting Earth battleship. Commander Vega and Chief Shibuya discuss an ancient legend about the Data Weapons and renew their vow to keep them from Garufa. Eris notices a possibility that a seventh Data Weapon exists somewhere. A new mechanical beast launches from Spiral City and heads toward Earth. The short period of peace ends, and Dendoh flies back into battle as the next threat approaches.
13Episode 13
14No Power!
The Garufa deploy a swarm of spider-shaped mechanical beasts that disable power generation facilities worldwide, plunging Earth into a massive blackout. GEAR headquarters detects the cause and sends Dendoh to the Arctic, where the heavy machine Elecideath hides. Elecideath uses dummy mechanical beasts to drain Dendoh's energy reserves while the Garufa simultaneously trick GEAR into supplying all spare Hyper Dendoh batteries to civilians, leaving no backups. Dendoh returns to Japan with less than two percent power remaining and crashes in the mountains near Hoshimi Town. Hokuto proposes collecting small independent power sources from across Japan to recharge Dendoh. Ginga calls his mother before the battle and reassures her that Dendoh will win without revealing his pilot status. GEAR broadcasts an urgent request for public assistance. Citizens across Japan mobilize, bringing dry cell batteries, portable generators, car and motorcycle engines, and bicycle dynamos. People connect their household appliances and even children's toys to contribute electricity. Elecideath advances on Dendoh's position and breaks through successive defense lines. The civilians near Dendoh refuse evacuation orders and continue pedaling and running their engines faster as the enemy approaches. The accumulated electricity from the nationwide effort restores Dendoh's power. Dendoh launches its Final Attack and overpowers Elecideath's beam, destroying the heavy machine. The episode ends with a public service announcement urging viewers to conserve electricity. The next episode shifts to a ghost story involving Data Weapons at school.
15Ghost Story! The Data Weapons in School
Oiwa-sensei confiscates Ginga and Hokuto's Gear Commander at school. The boys attempt to retrieve it secretly but get caught, resulting in a one-week confiscation period. Unable to leave the Gear Commander in the teacher's possession, Ginga, Hokuto, and Ellis sneak into the school at night. A thief inside the building mistakes Unicorn Drill in its Alias form for a ghost and flees, leading to his arrest. The three students chase Unicorn Drill across town and track it to Oiwa-sensei's house, where the Gear Commander is stored instead of at the school. The enemy Three Chips see Unicorn Drill enter the house and assume a Dendoh pilot lives there, so they summon the heavy machine beast Feeler. Ginga and Hokuto rescue Oiwa-sensei from his home and call Dendoh to battle Feeler. Feeler's tentacles capture the Data Weapons, preventing Dendoh from executing its Final Attack. Vega arrives and frees the Data Weapons from the tentacles, allowing Dendoh to destroy Feeler with Final Attack. A new enemy named Ragou appears from outer space immediately after the battle. Ragou demonstrates overwhelming speed against Dendoh and then departs without finishing the fight. The episode closes with the sudden emergence of this faster, unknown adversary who outclasses Dendoh in mobility.
16The Demon from the Moon
GEAR command analyzes the new enemy Lagowe and determines a decisive speed gap between the mechanical beast and Dendoh. Hokuto,Ginga, and Eris engage in a petty argument that escalates into a full fight among the three pilots. Personal pride prevents any of them from making the first move toward reconciliation. The Data Weapons observe the deteriorating situation and decide to intervene directly. The mechanical companions devise a plan to force the three pilots back into cooperation. Their scheme successfully breaks the deadlock and restores the team's working relationship. With the personal conflict resolved, the pilots refocus on the threat posed by Lagowe. Dendoh's lack of speed against the enemy remains an unresolved tactical problem as the episode closes. The reunited pilots must now find a way to overcome their machine's performance disadvantage before Lagowe strikes again.
17Lagowe's Teeth
Leo Circle falls asleep in its alias form on a balcony at night. Ginga Izumo's younger sister Otome discovers the small mechanical creature. She drapes a blanket over Leo Circle to keep it warm. The next day,Otome plays with Leo Circle, and the Data Weapon stays with her willingly. Three agents from the Mechanical Empire Garufa, the Three Chips, spot Leo Circle with Otome. The Three Chips attack the girl to capture the Data Weapon. Ginga and Hokuto Kusanagi rush to Otome's location to protect her and Leo Circle. The two boys successfully fight off the Three Chips and rescue Otome. During the confrontation, the Three Chips directly observe Ginga and Hokuto piloting Dendoh. The enemy forces thus learn the secret identities of Dendoh's pilots. The revelation places Ginga, Hokuto, and their families in immediate danger from future targeted attacks.
18Episode 18
19Resurrected Life
Dendoh and the Cell Booster approach the Spiral Castle to begin an operation to capture Lagou. Dendoh fires multiple Final Attacks to lure the enemy out of the castle. Lagou emerges and Dendoh leads it toward a pre-set trap. The trap activates and holds Lagou, but the heavy machine beast Assaulton attacks and frees Lagou from confinement. During the subsequent battle, Dendoh’s batteries run out. A virus also destroys the Unicorn Drill and Leo Circle data weapons. Ginga and Hokuto cry out in desperation, and a mysterious light appears in response. Unicorn and Leo revive and fly toward the moon, where a strange girl appears on Dendoh’s monitor. The two revived data weapons combine into the super beast king Kiraboshi, which fights Lagou on equal or better terms. Dragon and Boa exchange Dendoh’s batteries, allowing Dendoh to rejoin the battle. Dendoh destroys Assaulton and the remaining machine beast units, then installs Kiraboshi and defeats Lagou with a Final Attack. Ginga and Hokuto return to Earth, rejoicing in Unicorn and Leo’s resurrection but unaware of the mysterious girl’s identity or purpose.
20Episode 20
21Revived Black Knight!
Altea returns to the Spiral Castle and insults the three Machine Generals for their incompetence. Cornered by his words, the three generals decide to launch an attack themselves. On Earth, Kirakuni and Aiko unexpectedly participate in a marriage interview, drawing the attention of the GEAR base. During the meeting, Machine General Gigawitter sorties and deploys powerful jamming waves. The jamming cuts off all communications in Hoshimi Town and disables GEAR's computer systems. Despite the system failure, GEAR manages to launch Dendoh. Pilots Ginga and Hokuto engage Gigawitter but struggle against its separation attacks. Dendoh's Unicorn Drill final attack misses due to the electromagnetic interference. The mecha's remaining energy depletes, leaving it in a critical situation. Kirakuni and Aiko leave the marriage interview and rush to the battlefield in their Cell Fighters. Without computer support, they manually replace Dendoh's batteries. Dendoh regains full power and installs the Kagami Drive. The mecha destroys Gigawitter with its final attack. With one general eliminated, the remaining forces of the Spiral City prepare their next assault against the recovering GEAR organization.
22Mother's Secret
Hokuto Kusanagi and Orihime Kusanagi visit Saionji Minoru. Saionji reveals that he found Vega,a young girl from the planet Arctos, seventeen years ago. He raised her on Earth and named her Orihime. Saionji then asks Orihime whether she has resolved to fight her own brother, Altea. The next day, Altea launches from the Spiral City accompanied by two Garuda Kishis. Orihime, piloting her GEAR fighter as Vega, moves to intercept him. Altea commands the two Kishis to attack Dendoh. Vega engages the enemy forces directly to protect the Earth. The confrontation forces Vega to face her brother in combat for the first time since his corruption by the Garufa Empire. The battle places Hokuto in the position of witnessing his mother confront his uncle. Altea shows no hesitation in attacking his sister. Vega struggles to balance her duty as a GEAR commander with her lingering feelings for her lost brother. The episode closes with the fight intensifying as Altea prepares to unleash the full power of his Kishis against Vega and Dendoh.
23Locked Memories
Arutea abducts Vega from the GEAR base and takes her to the space battleship Aldebaran. He requests her cooperation with the Mechanical Empire Garufa. Vega refuses to join him. In response,Arutea declares the annihilation of Earth. He launches in the black knight unit Ogre to carry out the threat. Dendoh launches to intercept Ogre and prevent the attack. During the battle, Arutea reveals that Vega is his older sister. Ginga and Hokuto learn that Arutea is therefore Hokuto's maternal uncle. This knowledge paralyzes the two pilots. They lose the will to fight against a member of Hokuto's own family. Dendoh stops mounting an effective defense. Ogre gains the upper hand in the combat. The episode closes with Dendoh unable to counter Ogre's relentless assault.
24Episode 24
25In Midst of Flames
Giga Gurumei launches an attack disguised as a misfire and strikes the Aldebaran, causing massive damage to the ship. Altea returns to the crippled Aldebaran to rescue Vega from the wreckage. Inside the dying vessel, Altea recovers his true memories, unlocking the full knowledge of his past. He understands his mission and the sacrifices required to protect Vega and the Data Weapons. Altea transfers both Vega and the remaining Data Weapons to Dendoh's custody. He remains behind on the Aldebaran as the ship's destruction becomes inevitable. The Aldebaran explodes, and Altea disappears in the blast, completing his self-sacrifice. Dendoh escapes the explosion carrying Vega, but the escape route remains contested. Giga Gurumei detects the fleeing Dendoh and immediately launches a pursuit attack. The enemy general aims to destroy Dendoh before the machine can return to Earth with its new cargo. The episode closes with Dendoh under heavy fire and Vega now dependent on the two young pilots for survival.
26The Day Spiral City Falls
Injured Altea entrusts the Ogre Gear and his Data Weapons to Hokuto and the others. Spiral City enters a collision course with Earth, intending to destroy the Gears and Data Weapons along with the planet. Ginga reveals to his family that he pilots Dendoh, and his mother Midori expresses relief that he finally told her the truth. Spiral City deploys countless mechanical beasts as it descends toward Earth. Ginga launches into space aboard Dendoh, while Hokuto pilots Ogre to intercept the falling fortress. Using the Data Weapons, the two Gears wipe out the waves of mechanical beasts. They break through Spiral City's barrier by concentrating their Final Attack on a single point and enter the interior. Inside, the last of the three Spiral City executives, Giga Abzolute, appears and attacks with a body that can liquefy at will. Dendoh's Auto Pressure ability immobilizes Abzolute, and Ogre's Final Attack destroys the enemy commander. Despite Abzolute's defeat, Spiral City continues its deadly descent toward Earth. Dendoh and Ogre unleash repeated Final Attacks, collapsing the fortress and saving the planet from impact. Both Gears and the Cel Booster return safely to Earth, but the battle has only weakened one of many threats still lurking in space.
27Stealthy Shadow
28Subaru's Challenge
Zero infiltrates the Earth Defense Force's underground facility where the remains of the Six Knights lie in storage. He uses the scattered wreckage to assemble a new, powerful knight. This creation directly threatens the base's security. Ginga moves to summon Dendoh to defend the facility. Hokuto simultaneously attempts to summon Ogre, the black Gear. Subaru has recently obtained Artea's Gear Commander. He also tries to summon Ogre at the exact same moment. The competing summons for Ogre create an immediate conflict between Hokuto and Subaru. Subaru's command over Ogre overrides Hokuto's attempt, leaving Hokuto unable to call the black Gear. The episode concludes with Subaru taking control of Ogre and turning it against his former allies. The next episode throws Hokuto directly into Subaru's challenge for control of Ogre.
29Episode 29
30Greatest Rival!
GEAR headquarters dedicates all resources to locate Hokuto and the missing Ginga. Scouts send word of Ginga's position, and Dendoh speeds to the location. Galufa's brainwashing of Hokuto completes before the rescue arrives. Hokuto now identifies Ginga and Dendoh as enemies. He attacks using his intimate knowledge of Ginga's fighting style and Dendoh's capabilities. Each strike targets weaknesses that only a former co-pilot would know. Hokuto shows no hesitation as he pilots his own Gear against his former partner. The brainwashed pilot prepares Ginga's ultimate attack, the Final Attack. He aims the devastating move directly at Dendoh. Ginga faces the impossible choice of defending himself without permanently harming Hokuto. The attack launches, forcing Dendoh to endure the full force of its own weapon turned against it. The episode ends with Dendoh damaged and Hokuto fully committed to destroying his closest ally. The next episode pits Ginga's tears against Hokuto's cries as the two friends continue their forced duel.
31Episode 31
32Fly! Subaru!
Hokuto leaves Subaru after breaking free from the brainwashing that controlled him. Subaru cannot accept Hokuto's departure and suffers a deep emotional shock. Subaru swears to destroy Ogre and pilots the Kishi Legacy into battle. Subaru launches a direct assault against Ogre and engages in combat. Hokuto refuses to see Subaru as an enemy despite the attack. Hokuto attempts to talk Subaru down and end the fight without violence. Zero observes the confrontation and intervenes without warning. Zero activates a self-destruct mechanism inside the Kishi Legacy. Zero intends to eliminate Subaru and Ogre together in one explosion. The self-destruct countdown begins, trapping both pilots in the blast radius. Hokuto must now choose between stopping Zero's plot or saving Subaru from the exploding Legacy. Zero's betrayal transforms the battle into a desperate escape from a mutual destruction. The self-destruct explosion sets the stage for the systematic destruction of GEAR's forces.
33GEAR's Destruction!
Subaru stays inside GEAR headquarters. Interacting with Hokuto and the GEAR staff,Subaru gradually regains human emotions and behavior. Zero begins full-scale military operations against the Earth Defense Force. Zero destroys all GEAR branch offices in rapid succession. Zero then infiltrates the main GEAR headquarters directly. Subaru fails to evacuate from the headquarters in time. Altea and Vega confront Zero to defend Subaru from the attack. The ensuing battle results in the destruction of the GEAR headquarters facility. The defense organization suffers a catastrophic blow. Hokuto and Ginga face the loss of their operational base. Zero's successful assault leaves the remaining GEAR forces scattered and vulnerable. Zero's next assault on the survivors begins immediately.
34Zero Attack!
Vega and Subaru activate the spaceship Meteor and successfully escape from the collapsing GEAR headquarters. Dendoh and Ouga move to protect Meteor from Zero’s assault. Zero sheds his previous guise and reveals his true form. His combat power far exceeds anything Dendoh and Ouga have faced before. The two mechs struggle to withstand Zero’s relentless attacks. Hokuto and Ginga find themselves pushed into a desperate situation inside Dendoh. Subaru watches from Meteor as the battle turns against the pilots. She sees Hokuto and the others trapped in a critical crisis. Subaru makes a decision and aims Meteor’s main cannon directly at Zero. She fires the cannon in an attempt to break Zero’s offensive. The shot strikes Zero, but the outcome remains uncertain. The episode ends with the group still under threat, leading directly into their next challenge: escaping into space.
35Takeoff! To Space
Garufa's home planet, the origin world of Vega and Altea, approaches Earth. GEAR determines that destroying the planet's central core offers the only method to save Earth. GEAR members board the Meteor spacecraft. They launch from Earth carrying the expectations of people worldwide. The team first attacks the barrier satellites that protect the Garufa home planet. Enemy pilot Zero intercepts the assault and blocks the path to the satellites. The Meteor crew must fight through Zero's defenses to reach the barrier satellites. Destroying those satellites becomes the immediate prerequisite for any strike on the planet's core. Zero's intervention raises the stakes and delays the attack on the home world. The episode ends with the Meteor engaged in direct combat against Zero in space. The next conflict centers on whether GEAR can overcome Zero and breach the planetary defenses.
36Sea of Storms
The damaged Barhara, carrying Vega, takes a hit and descends toward the Garufa home planet. Ouga pilots his unit to pursue the Barhara through the planetary atmosphere. Hokuto looks out and sees a wide, beautiful natural landscape covering the alien world. The sight contradicts his expectations of a mechanical empire's homeworld. Vega reveals that Garufa originally functioned as a management computer system. The system's primary mission was to protect and preserve natural ecosystems across the galaxy. Something caused this administrative computer to go berserk and transform into a conquering force. Vega begins explaining the sequence of events that led to the system's violent rampage. Hokuto and Ouga listen as she recounts the critical turning point in Garufa's history. The episode ends with Vega's story continuing, leaving the pilots to confront the truth behind their enemy's origin.
37The Truth About Arktos
38星の伝説―そして、始まりの日―
Phoenix Arrow guides Hokuto and Ginga back into Dendoh's cockpit. The Phoenix data saves itself into the Gear Commanders of Hokuto,Ginga, and Altea. Altea takes control of Ogre, while Dendoh installs Phoenix and gains unlimited power. Zero combines with the mechanical beast Vector to become Vector Zero. Phoenix reveals that Zero forms one half of the Garufa Emperor, and defeating the Emperor requires destroying both halves simultaneously. Hokuto and Ginga pilot Dendoh toward the central core of the Garufa home world. Altea engages Vector Zero in battle with Ogre to hold it back. Dendoh reaches the Garufa Emperor, who transforms into a seven-headed dragon and attacks. Phoenix compresses all Data Weapons into a single blade called Akatsuki no Odachi and gives it to Dendoh. Dendoh severs the Garufa Emperor's heads one by one. At the same moment Ogre destroys Vector Zero, Dendoh cuts off the final head, defeating the Garufa Emperor. The battle ends. Peace returns to Arctos, and Hokuto and Ginga travel back to Earth together with their allies.
