Kyoko Tsuruno is a former stage name of Tomoko Ishimura, a Japanese voice actress born on February 24, 1972, in Zama, Kanagawa, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. Throughout her career, she has been credited under three different names. She initially used the name Mifuyu Hiiragi until August 1999, when she began using the name Kyoko Tsuruno. Since May 1, 2004, she has been credited under her real name, Tomoko Ishimura.
Her career encompasses numerous roles in anime television series, OVAs, and video games from the mid-1990s through the 2000s. One of her notable roles from this period is Eris Willamette in the 2000 anime series Gear Fighter Dendoh. She later reprised this role for the video game Super Robot Wars MX in 2004. Other significant anime roles include Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova in Slayers Next, Millenium Feria Nocturne in Lost Universe, Princess Fatora in El Hazard, Chisao Oyama in the MegaMan NT Warrior series, and Emperor Rudolph in Zoids: Chaotic Century.
In addition to anime, her voice acting work spans video games and CD dramas. She is listed in the Japanese voice cast for the 2002 video game.hack//Outbreak, contributing to additional voices. She also played Roan in the video game Grandia II. Her work in CD dramas includes a role in Slayers Nextra, again as Martina.
Beyond voice acting, Kyoko Tsuruno also contributed musically to some of her projects. She performed the song Return to myself, which served as the seventh ending theme for the 1999 OVA series Seraphim Call. She was also one of the performers for the second ending theme song of El Hazard: The Alternative World, titled Love Mania!, which she sang alongside fellow voice actresses Maaya Sakamoto, Rio Natsuki, and Etsuko Kozakura. A unique early achievement in her career was her role as Luna in the Sailor Moon musicals from 1993 to 1994, making her the only actress to have played that part in the stage productions.
