Description
Konaki Jiji is a yokai character from the Gegege no Kitarō franchise, based on Japanese folklore from Tokushima Prefecture. In the series, he is an old man yokai with a baby-like face and straw raincoat, known for his comic and absent-minded personality. Despite his lighthearted nature, he is one of Kitarō's strongest allies, often fighting alongside him. His main ability is to turn his body into stone, allowing him to increase his weight and crush enemies by clinging to them. He can also use stone fists for enhanced combat and has highly durable defenses. He has a great fondness for alcohol, which sometimes leads to humorous situations, but he remains reliable in serious battles. Konaki Jiji has a close relationship with Sunakake Babaa, with whom he frequently works and shares a hinted romance. He is also a friend of Medama-oyaji and plays a paternal role towards Kitarō. Over the series, he has shown development, such as temporarily giving up alcohol to train for a fight with Western yokai. He is over 3000 years old and has regeneration abilities. His role in the story is that of a steadfast supporter and protector, contributing significantly in conflicts.
