Hyo, also called Hyoh, is the biological older brother of Kenshiro. Both originate from the Land of Asura as descendants of the Hokuto Sōke bloodline. As infants during Asuran conflict, Hyo entrusted Kenshiro to Raoh and Toki, instructing them to take him to safety across the sea. Hyo remained in Asura to train under Jukei in Hokuto Ryūken, a martial art distinct from Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken. Jukei attempted to erase Hyo's memories of Kenshiro to eliminate emotional weakness, leaving an x-shaped scar on his forehead. Hyo only pretended to have his memories erased, as Jukei hesitated at the last moment. Later, Kaioh, ruler of Asura and elder brother of Raoh and Toki, sealed Hyo's memories to suppress his heritage and destiny. After a nuclear holocaust, Kaioh consolidated power over Asura. Hyo served as the Second Rashō (Second General). Though practicing the inherently corrupting Hokuto Ryūken, Hyo ruled with relative compassion, earning favor among Asura's people. When Kenshiro arrived in Asura to rescue Lin, Hyo—unaware of their kinship—sought to avenge his friend Han, whom Kenshiro had killed. Before their confrontation, Jukei attempted to restore Hyo's sealed memories to help Kenshiro defeat Kaioh, but Kaioh's earlier manipulation rendered the technique ineffective. Hyo, interpreting this as brainwashing against Kaioh, struck down Jukei. Kaioh further manipulated Hyo by falsely claiming Kenshiro murdered Hyo's fiancée, Sayaka (Kaioh's sister). In reality, Kaioh killed Sayaka to provoke Hyo, hoping the battle with Kenshiro would eliminate one or both brothers. Enraged, Hyo unleashed his Matōki (demonic aura) and fought Kenshiro and his ally Shachi. During the battle, Shachi succeeded in restoring Hyo's memories. Reunited with Kenshiro and aware of Kaioh's treachery, Hyo joined forces with Bat and the Hokuto Army to rescue Lin and confront Kaioh. Mortally wounded fighting Kaioh's elite soldiers, Hyo was escorted to Kenshiro's final showdown with Kaioh. After Kenshiro defeated Kaioh, the dying Hyo forgave his older brother, blaming his own weakness for enabling Kaioh's crimes. Hyo and Kaioh reconciled, with Hyo dying in Kaioh's arms. Kaioh then immolated them both in a geyser of lava, which cooled to form a natural statue. In combat, Hyo utilized techniques like Jikai Rashi (a web of sharp silk to ensnare foes) and Maei Soukijin (a devastating aura hurricane). His fighting style emphasized precision and group control, with his Hokuto Ryūken causing opponents to waver and explode into fine mist. Though similar to Kenshiro in technique and appearance, Hyo's attacks incorporated more telekinetic and area-of-effect elements.
