Akashachi captains the pirate band "Sōdō no Shachi" and is Shachi's father. Leading one hundred men on a past expedition to the Land of Asura, his crew was butchered by a young Nameless Asura. Akashachi narrowly escaped, losing his right eye, right arm, and right leg, and was forced to abandon his son Shachi. These injuries left him reliant on an eyepatch and prosthetic limbs.
Encountering Kenshiro, Akashachi reluctantly agrees to ferry him to the Land of Asura, tasking Kenshiro with finding his lost son. Akashachi and his crew later intervene in Kenshiro and Shachi's battle against Kaioh, trapping Kaioh with grappling hooks and drenching him with sulphuric acid. As Kaioh falls into the water, Akashachi attempts a final harpoon strike but is killed by a concealed crossbow bolt fired by Kaioh. Dying, he is reunited with Shachi, who inherits his father's eyepatch.
In the animated film *Legend of Raoh: Chapter of Fierce Fight*, Akashachi appears briefly, waiting with Reina by the shore for Raoh's return. He openly weeps upon seeing Raoh's horse Kokuoh carrying Raoh's ashes, indicating a connection to Raoh's story, separate from the main series.
His character design consistently features an eyepatch, facial hair, and prosthetics. His fighting style utilizes a harpoon, claw weapons, and needles hidden within his eyepatch. His legacy endures through Shachi, who honors him by wearing the eyepatch.
