At their birth, the corrupt chamberlain Jako decreed only one heir could survive, ordering Falco, a master of Gento Kō Ken, to kill one infant. Falco secretly spared Lin, entrusting her to relatives while reporting her death to Jako. Jako then kidnapped Lui, imprisoning her underground within the Imperial Palace to manipulate Falco and consolidate his own power. Confined for years in darkness, Lui eventually lost her eyesight while burrowing for water. Despite isolation, she remained aware of Lin's activities. She expressed admiration for her sister's resilience during their first meeting, which occurred after Bat, Lin, and the bounty hunter Ein infiltrated the palace and became trapped in the catacombs by Jako. Imprisoned together, Lui revealed the truth of their shared parentage to Lin. Lui gained freedom following Ein's sacrificial act, enabling their escape.
