TV-Series
Description
Kaname Arisugawa is a central supporting character who brings energy, humor, and surprising wisdom to her community. She is a fifteen-year-old high school student and the younger daughter of the family that owns and operates a local bathhouse called Kusatsu Onsen Fuyuin. As a former junior high school classmate of the protagonist Nasa Yuzaki, she has known him for several years and looks up to him as an upperclassman. Her life is deeply intertwined with the daily operations of the family business, where she works alongside her older sister, Aya.

In terms of personality, Kaname is a bundle of contradictions that make her a consistently engaging presence. She is overwhelmingly lively, cheerful, and outgoing, often acting as the primary source of comedic energy in her scenes. Her most prominent trait is her complete lack of shyness and her love for risqué or "dirty" jokes, which she deploys without hesitation, much to the embarrassment of those around her. She has no qualms about entering the men's bath area to clean while Nasa is using it, demonstrating a direct and unflappable approach to life. However, beneath this playful and sometimes lewd exterior lies a remarkable level of maturity and responsibility. Kaname is exceptionally sharp-witted and often serves as the voice of reason, particularly when compared to her airheaded sister Aya or the occasionally flustered Nasa. She gives surprisingly profound and practical advice about love and marriage, proving herself to be far wiser than her fifteen years might suggest. Her speech pattern is generally polite when dealing with customers, but she can become very direct and sharp-tongued with close friends and family.

Kaname's primary motivation is the well-being of her family and their bathhouse. She has taken on significant managerial responsibilities for the business, ensuring it runs smoothly day-to-day. This sense of duty is fueled by deep gratitude toward Nasa, who provided crucial help in saving the bathhouse from financial trouble following a family crisis. She is driven to repay that kindness and maintain the stability of her home. Her curiosity about Nasa's married life with Tsukasa is another major source of her actions, as she constantly tries to offer advice, ask probing questions, or even spy on the couple, all with the genuine, if mischievous, intention of helping their relationship flourish.

Within the story, Kaname fills several important roles. She is a confidante and a source of comic relief, but more significantly, she acts as an unofficial relationship counselor for the main couple. Her direct questions and mature advice often force Nasa to confront his feelings and take decisive action in his marriage. When Nasa and Tsukasa are left homeless after a fire, it is Kaname who immediately offers them a place to stay at the bathhouse, solidifying her role as a loyal and indispensable friend. Her position as an observer who is close to but outside the central romance allows her to comment on it with a unique blend of teasing and sincerity.

Kaname's key relationships define her character. She shares a strong and loving, if sometimes combative, bond with her older sister, Aya, whom she affectionately calls "Ayanee". She often teases Aya but also shows deep care for her, such as when she gently helps her sister come to terms with Nasa's marriage. Her relationship with Nasa Yuzaki is central; she calls him "Senpai" and holds him in the highest esteem, considering him the "most respected senpai in the world" for his past help. This respect does not stop her from mercilessly teasing him about his love life, which she does with great enthusiasm. With Tsukasa Yuzaki, she develops a close friendship, playfully calling her "Tsukassan" and feeling genuine gratitude toward her for saving Nasa's life. Through Tsukasa, Kaname's initial curiosity transforms into a warm, sisterly affection.

Throughout the series, Kaname shows subtle but clear development. She begins as a capable young helper at the bathhouse and grows into its effective and confident manager, handling finances and customer relations with increasing skill. Her friendship with Tsukasa deepens significantly as they come to live under the same roof, moving from polite acquaintance to close companions. While her core personality remains unchanged, her maturity and sense of responsibility become more pronounced as she shoulders the weight of the family business and offers her support to the people she cares about.

Kaname possesses several notable abilities beyond her adept management of the bathhouse. She has a strong business sense, which she uses to keep the establishment profitable and popular. Her organizational and customer service skills are highly developed, making her an invaluable asset to her family. Outside of work, she is a member of her school's art club, indicating a creative side to her personality. Ultimately, her greatest ability is her emotional intelligence; her knack for cutting through awkwardness with direct, insightful, and often hilarious commentary makes her a catalyst for growth and connection among the other characters.
