Clara Soares
Description
Clara Soares is a French voice actress and singer, widely recognized for her extensive work in dubbing, particularly for anime series and films. Born on June 5, 1988, her path to voice acting was preceded by a strong foundation in music and performing arts.
Her artistic training began in early childhood, starting with music appreciation at the Willems school at age four. She then studied violin and piano at the conservatory in Fresnes until the age of fifteen. Despite this early focus on music, Soares initially pursued a different academic path, earning a Master's degree in Marketing Management in 2012. Following her graduation, she decided to follow her passion for performance and enrolled at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris, where she trained under instructors such as Franck Victor. Her early performance experience included stage work in musicals and plays, with productions like Guys and Dolls, Blanche-Neige et les sept nains, and a musical adaptation of Hansel et Gretel.
Soares entered the dubbing industry in 2014 and quickly became a prominent voice in French localizations. She is notably the regular French dubbing voice for several actresses, including Millie Bobby Brown (in Stranger Things and the Enola Holmes films) and María Pedraza (in Élite and Toy Boy).
Her work in anime is extensive and includes many prominent and beloved characters. She is perhaps best known for voicing Ochaco Uraraka in the long-running series My Hero Academia, a role she has reprised for several of the franchise's animated films, including My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, Heroes: Rising, World Heroes' Mission, and You're Next. She also voices Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama: Love is War and its subsequent seasons, and took on the role of Norman in the first season of The Promised Neverland. Other significant anime roles include Stephanie Dola in No Game No Life and its film No Game No Life: Zero, Mare Bello Fiore in Overlord III, Rean in To Your Eternity, Makoto Ono in Hi Score Girl, Hiro Soma in Fruits Basket, Kaname Arisugawa in TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, Natsume Tonai in Drifting Home, and Ayami Sasaki in Komi Can't Communicate. Her film work also includes the role of Shoya as a child in A Silent Voice, PallaPalla in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, and Mari in Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.
Beyond anime, Soares's voice can be heard in a wide variety of Western animation. Her credits in this field include April O'Neil in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spinel in Steven Universe, Volpina in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, and Tuck in Paw Patrol. She is also a singer and has performed voice work for audiobooks and children's audio players like the Toniebox.
