Description
Makoto Tachiuri, known as Uribo, is a ghost bound to the Hananoyu Inn by the tragedy of his childhood demise, which occurred soon after his friend Mineko—the inn’s future proprietor—moved away. Trapped in the inn’s liminal space, he lingers as a restless spirit unable to transcend his unresolved past.

Uribo first materializes to Oriko "Okko" Seki following the car accident that kills her parents, emerging as a spectral guide who nudges her toward rebuilding her life as Mineko’s apprentice. His dynamic with Okko oscillates between lighthearted taunts and sincere counsel, prodding her to face grief-fueled challenges while adapting to her role as a junior innkeeper.

A defining trait emerges when he playfully paints Matsuki Akino’s face during a rivalry-fueled clash, provoking Miyo, Matsuki’s deceased sister, to retaliate—a mischievous prank underscoring his penchant for stirring growth through chaos. As Okko uncovers ties between a guest’s family and her parents’ accident, Uribo’s guidance deepens into a stabilizing force, anchoring her amid emotional turbulence.

His history intertwines with Mineko’s youth, casting him as a bridge between the inn’s past and present. Through clashes, mentorship, and quiet solidarity, he propels Okko’s resilience until her gradual inability to perceive spirits signals her healing. In the narrative’s closing act, Uribo departs alongside Miyo during the Shinto spring festival, his purpose fulfilled as Okko steps into independence. His arc mirrors impermanence and release, weaving closure into the tapestry of living and spectral bonds.
