Description
"Concrete Revolutio: Chōjin Gensō" is a science fiction anime series set in an alternate version of Japan during the 1960s and 1970s, where superhumans, aliens, and other supernatural beings coexist with ordinary humans. The story unfolds across two timelines, interweaving past and present events to explore the complexities of justice, morality, and societal change. The narrative centers on the Superhuman Bureau, a government agency tasked with overseeing and protecting superhumans while maintaining public order. The Bureau's mission is to ensure that superhumans use their powers responsibly and to mediate conflicts between humans and non-humans.

The protagonist, Jirō Hitoyoshi, is an idealistic agent of the Superhuman Bureau who believes in justice and the coexistence of humans and superhumans. However, his unwavering faith in the system is tested as he encounters moral dilemmas and conflicting ideologies. Jirō's journey is marked by his interactions with a diverse cast of characters, including fellow agents, superhumans, and extraterrestrial beings. Among them is Kikko Hoshino, a young girl with a strong sense of justice who idolizes Jirō but struggles with her own insecurities and the harsh realities of their work. Another key figure is Emi Kino, a former agent turned journalist who investigates the Bureau's activities and exposes its darker aspects.

The series delves into the ethical implications of superhuman abilities and the societal tensions they create. Episodes often explore standalone stories involving superhuman incidents, such as alien invasions, rogue robots, or conflicts between humans and superhumans. These episodic narratives are gradually tied together by an overarching plot that reveals the Bureau's hidden agendas, political corruption, and the broader consequences of humanity's relationship with superhuman entities. Themes of discrimination, exploitation, and the abuse of power are recurrent, as the series examines how society grapples with the existence of beings who challenge the status quo.

As the story progresses, Jirō becomes increasingly disillusioned with the Bureau and its compromises, leading him to question his role in the system. The series culminates in a confrontation between Jirō and those who seek to control or eliminate superhumans, forcing him to confront the limits of his ideals and the complexities of justice in a world where the line between right and wrong is often blurred. Through its intricate narrative structure and thought-provoking themes, "Concrete Revolutio: Chōjin Gensō" offers a nuanced exploration of humanity's relationship with power, identity, and the unknown.
