Description
Minoru Mineta, known by his hero name Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice, is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School. He is instantly recognizable by his small stature and the round purple spheres that cover his head, which are the physical manifestation of his Quirk. His background reveals that during middle school, he felt intense envy and resentment toward students who were popular with girls, and he came to believe that becoming a hero would make him popular as well. This desire for female admiration became his primary motivation for pursuing the hero career, alongside a general wish for popularity.

Mineta’s personality is dominated by an overtly lecherous and perverted nature. He frequently makes inappropriate comments about women, attempts to peep on female classmates, and engages in immature behavior that often leads to punishment from his peers. Despite this, he is not a villain; he shows moments of loyalty, empathy, and genuine bravery in critical situations. He is also intelligent and resourceful in combat, using his Quirk creatively to trap enemies or assist allies. His impulsiveness and overconfidence sometimes get him into trouble, but he can be quick-witted when under pressure.

His Quirk, Pop Off, allows him to grow strongly adhesive yet detachable purple spheres from his scalp. These spheres can be plucked and thrown, and they stick to almost any surface. Mineta himself is immune to the adhesive effect and can bounce off the spheres, using them as trampolines for mobility. He can also create barriers or immobilize opponents by layering the balls. However, the Quirk has limits: overuse causes bleeding from his head, and the spheres require time to regenerate.

In the story, Mineta serves as a supporting character in Class 1-A, often providing comic relief through his antics. He participates in major arcs, including the U.A. entrance exam, the Sports Festival, the Forest Training Camp, the Shie Hassaikai raid, and the Final War. During the Sports Festival, he slowed down Momo Yaoyorozu by clinging to her back, which contributed to her loss of confidence. His key relationships include a close friendship with Denki Kaminari, with whom he often schemes; a complex dynamic with female classmates like Yaoyorozu, Ochaco Uraraka, and Tsuyu Asui, who frequently react negatively to his behavior; and a rivalry with Katsuki Bakugo due to their contrasting personalities. He later interns under the hero team known as The Lurkers, consisting of Edgeshot, Kamui Woods, and Mt. Lady, which helps him improve his teamwork and efficiency.

Over the course of the series, Mineta shows notable development. He becomes less overtly perverted as time goes on, and the female members of Class 1-A grow more comfortable around him. In the Forest Training Camp arc, he demonstrates a better understanding of teamwork and supports his classmates against villains. During the Shie Hassaikai arc, he displays strategic thinking and maturity. In the Final War, he steps up significantly, contributing effectively in battle. By the epilogue, eight years later, he has graduated from U.A., worked as a sidekick for Mt. Lady, and then established his own hero agency, ultimately achieving the rank of No. 108 hero.
