Description
Azazel Ameri is a prominent character known for her striking appearance and formidable position as the student council president of Babyls Demon School. She is a tall demon with long red hair that curls upwards at the ends, pointed ears, and orange eyes. Her height is notable at 190 centimeters. She is the daughter of Azazel Henri, a high-ranking official in the Demon Border Patrol, and her mother is named Merize.

Ameri is a second-year student who holds the rank of Vav, which is the sixth rank, a very high level for a student. On the surface, she projects an image of a charismatic, strict, and upright leader who is deeply committed to maintaining order and discipline within the school. She commands respect from both her peers and teachers, and is known for her commanding manner and unwavering adherence to the rules. The student council members she leads were once delinquents that she personally collected and rehabilitated, and they all hold a deep respect for her.

Beneath this authoritative exterior, however, Ameri has a well-hidden softer and more romantic side. Her family has a collection of forbidden books from the human world, which are shojo romance comics. Ameri is deeply fascinated by these stories but cannot read the human language in which they are written. This secret interest becomes the foundation of her relationship with the protagonist, Iruma Suzuki. When she discovers that Iruma can read the human language, she begins a clandestine arrangement where he reads the comics aloud to her. This shared activity allows her to indulge in her romantic fantasies and leads to her developing strong feelings for him.

Her personality is defined by a distinct gap moe, the contrast between her powerful and intimidating public persona and her private, more innocent, and sometimes flustered demeanor, especially when it comes to matters of love and romance. She is shown to be somewhat immature in choosing her own casual clothes, often relying on advice from other female students like Elizabetta Ix.

Ameri is exceptionally powerful, possessing both immense physical strength and magical abilities. In combat, she relies heavily on powerful kicks and physical techniques. She is proficient enough in magic to cast spells without incantation, such as the transformation spell Chersil, a skill that impressed even Opera, the formidable secretary to the school chairman. Her physical abilities are top-tier, allowing her to subdue giant demons single-handedly. Her family's inherited bloodline magic is called Romanticist, also known as the Fantasy King or King of Delusions. This ability allows her to unleash her maximum potential through powerful self-suggestion. By believing in her own strength, she can push her power to its absolute limits, but it is a double-edged sword; if she experiences doubt or fear, the ability can negatively affect her or even harm her. She used this ability effectively in combat against a giant monster during the Walter Park incident.

Her role in the story is multifaceted. She serves as a senior student leader and a figure of authority within the school. Her suspicions about Iruma being a human from the start create an underlying tension, though she chooses not to report him, forming a bond with him instead. Her relationship with Iruma is a central part of her character development. She was initially driven by her desire to understand the romance comics, but over time, she becomes increasingly conscious of her feelings for him, realizing she has fallen in love. She has inspired Iruma by asking about his ambitions, which prompted him to set the goal of rising through the demon ranks. Their relationship progresses through shared reading sessions, a date at an aquarium, and various other events that closely mirror scenes from her beloved shojo manga. She is often seen as a leading heroine candidate, with a significant amount of romantic development with Iruma. While she is confident and authoritative as president, she becomes insecure about how Iruma perceives her, especially regarding her dual nature as a strict leader versus a girl with romantic feelings.

Her key relationships include her friendship and mutual respect with Iruma's classmate, Asmodeus Alice, based on their noble statuses and shared interest in Iruma. Her father, Henri, is overprotective and unaware of her secret reading sessions, which she has cleverly misrepresented to him as talks about love and marriage, much to his horror. Her motivations are driven by a sense of duty as student council president, a desire to grow stronger, and a deepening personal connection with Iruma Suzuki. She fights not for personal glory or power, but for selfless reasons such as protecting others and out of love, which is considered unique in the demon world.
