TV-Series
Description
Gran Cardinale Cylira is a significant antagonist in the later narrative arcs of To Your Eternity, serving as the highest-ranking official of the Church of Bennett. He is a human male with an androgynous appearance, characterized by sharp, thin facial features, long eyelashes, and shoulder-length hair. His attire consists of long white robes, a necklace bearing the church's holy symbol, and an embroidered miter adorned with a gem and the same emblem, reflecting his high clerical status.

Cylira is portrayed as a deeply narcissistic, deceitful, and corrupt individual who systematically exploits his religious authority for personal gain. He is largely responsible for spreading the false rumor that the immortal being Fushi is a demon that attracts the Nokkers, the primary antagonists of the series. Cylira perceives Fushi's existence as a direct threat to the Church of Bennett's power and influence, which motivates his relentless campaign to denounce and capture him. The cardinal is known for making false promises without any intention of keeping them, breaking agreements as soon as he achieves his immediate objectives. For instance, he promises to support Prince Bon's claim to the throne in exchange for cooperation but then has the prince arrested for heresy. He similarly arrests Fushi's allies despite their compliance and rejects ransom money from the Uralis Kingdom on the pretext that it was created by Fushi.

In his role within the story, Cylira actively works to suppress Fushi and his companions, using the church's influence to sway public opinion and ignore pleas for help when it suits him. He catches up to Prince Bon's group in the town of Ilsarita, where he makes a deceptive deal with the prince to hand over Fushi in exchange for the church's endorsement for the throne. Following the predictable double-cross, Cylira has Fushi sealed in an iron prison, which is then filled with molten iron in an attempt to contain him permanently. The church later frames this event as a holy victory, with a fictionalized account in the Works of the Saints claiming that the devil Fushi was successfully sealed through the sage Cylira's resourcefulness and holy water. He also arrests Prince Bon for showing interest in Fushi, accusing him of heresy and attempting to have him executed. Although usually appearing cold and emotionless, Cylira is quick to gloat and takes visible joy when he believes he has triumphed over his adversaries, as he seemingly considers himself superior to others.

The cardinal's key relationships are primarily defined by his antagonism. He views Fushi as a demonic entity to be eliminated or imprisoned. He interacts with Prince Bon as a political pawn to be manipulated and then discarded. The character of Kahaku, who serves Fushi, ultimately exploits Cylira's arrogance and corrupt nature to dismantle the church's leadership from within. Regarding his development, Cylira remains a consistently antagonistic figure without a redemption arc, serving as an obstacle that the protagonists must overcome. His notable abilities are not supernatural but rather political and social; he wields the immense influence of the Church of Bennett to mobilize followers, arrest opponents, and shape public perception through propaganda.
