Description
Nako is a Railord who personifies the DD51 75 diesel locomotive. Originally a mass-produced unit from the former Imperial Railway with no particularly distinctive features, she has since come to serve on the Nikusen Railway’s Yuto Line. Her repeated service over time revealed an exceptional quality: she is extraordinarily durable and reliable, earning a reputation for never suffering a major breakdown. Outwardly, Nako presents herself as calm, logical, and bluntly honest, often speaking in straightforward terms that can seem cold. This demeanor leads some to describe her as being made of ice. Behind this cool exterior, however, she is a deeply passionate and idealistic individual. She holds a firm belief that technology can drive innovation and solve every problem, and this conviction fuels her relentless pursuit of cutting-edge developments in rail technology. She constantly seeks out information on the latest advancements, from electric‑diesel hybrid systems to other modern innovations, and is eager to learn from Railords from different regions—most notably the Chinese Railord Suika, with whom she discusses the potential of electric‑diesel traction for Japan’s narrow‑gauge lines. In the story of Rail Romanesque 2, Nako is one of the new Railords introduced. She takes part in the Railord Summit and contributes to the effort of collecting sounds for the festival, using her technical knowledge and analytical mind to aid the group’s mission. Her interactions with her master and fellow Railords gradually broaden her outlook; she begins to recognize the value of older, established technologies and acknowledges that learning from others is essential. Her most notable ability lies in her extraordinary robustness—her locomotive is virtually trouble‑free—making her a favorite among railway enthusiasts. She also possesses a deep understanding of diesel and electrical engineering, which she applies with the hope of one day creating a train that can seamlessly travel across all of Japan’s rail network.
