Description
Mamoru Uragami is a member of the Death Note Task Force in the 2016 film Death Note Light up the New World. He is part of a team of investigators assembled to locate and secure the six Death Notes that have reappeared in the human world following a ten‑year gap after the original Kira case. Uragami participates in the initial investigation into a series of unexplained deaths, including those caused by the Death Note owner Sakura Aoi. When the task force recovers Aoi’s notebook, Uragami touches it and, like the other members, gains the ability to see the Shinigami Beppo, a key development that allows the team to learn more about the notebooks in circulation. Beyond this, Uragami assists in tracking Aoi and later helps monitor the activities of the cyber‑terrorist Yuki Shien. His role is that of a diligent and loyal investigator who follows orders and contributes to the larger effort to prevent the Death Notes from falling into the wrong hands. He does not possess any supernatural abilities; his contribution comes from his experience as a law‑enforcement officer. Uragami’s relationship with his colleagues, particularly team leader Tsukuru Mishima and L’s successor Ryuzaki, is professional, and he works alongside them without notable personal conflict. His development over the course of the film is minimal, as his character serves primarily as a supporting member of the task force rather than a central figure in the story.
