Philippe Maia is a Brazilian voice actor, director, and writer, recognized for his extensive work dubbing anime, live-action films, and television series into Portuguese. He was born Philippe Benicio Maia de Gusmão on June 24, 1976, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Maia began his professional career in the late 1990s. A significant early role that brought him widespread recognition was narrating the Brazilian version of the popular sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, a performance that earned him the Prêmio Yamato for Best Narrator in 2010, an award considered a high honor in the Brazilian dubbing industry.
In the realm of anime, Maia has lent his voice to a wide array of characters. He is known for his portrayal of Kyojuro Rengoku across multiple installments of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise, including the television series, the Mugen Train Arc, and the feature film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train. His other prominent anime roles include the villainous Rekka Hoshimiya in Fire Force, the well-intentioned but misguided villain Gentle Criminal in My Hero Academia, the demon commander Bloe Phthalo in So I'm a Spider, So What?, and Mr. Second in Baki Hanma.
