Description
Charlotte Arisaka Anderson is a 17-year-old main character known for her role as the self-proclaimed apprentice of the legendary detective Siesta. She is of half-Japanese and half-American descent, which gives her a distinctive appearance characterized by long blonde hair, often tied back in a braid, and emerald green eyes. Her typical outfit consists of a white dress top, a maroon skirt, short white socks, black dress shoes, and a turquoise brooch necklace.
Born on October 10th into a strict military family with an American father and a Japanese mother, Charlotte was subjected to intensive combat training from a very young age. This disciplined upbringing, coupled with the emotional absence of her mother following the death of her younger brother, Noah, led to a childhood marked by social isolation and a general distrust of others. Her path eventually led her to be sent as an assassin to eliminate the detective Siesta. However, after being soundly defeated, Charlotte began to idolize her opponent. She started calling Siesta "Ma'am" and became her loyal, self-proclaimed disciple, a role she continues to identify with even after Siesta's death.
In terms of personality, Charlotte is brave, direct, and unafraid to speak her mind, often in an explosive or confrontational manner. While she projects a tough and sometimes aggressive exterior, she possesses a deep-seated loyalty and a strong desire to protect those she cares about, particularly the legacy of Siesta. Her primary motivation stems from this devotion to Siesta; she seeks to continue her mentor's fight against the enemy organization SPES and to protect what Siesta left behind. This often puts her in a complex and rivalrous relationship with Kimihiko Kimizuka, Siesta's former assistant. Charlotte frequently proclaims her dislike for him, yet in critical moments, she trusts him implicitly, recognizing that he was the one chosen by Siesta. Charlotte is currently a field agent working under Fubi Kase, taking on various combat, espionage, and protection missions.
Charlotte's skills are undeniably impressive in physical confrontations, where she ranks as the strongest fighter among her peers. Her lifelong military training has made her an expert in hand-to-hand combat, proficient with firearms including pistols and sniper rifles, skilled with knives, and an adept driver of cars and even helicopters. However, she has a significant weakness when it comes to intellectual tasks. According to Siesta, she is not very smart, and she herself recognizes her struggles with strategic thinking, puzzles, and deductive reasoning, often relying on others in these situations.
Throughout the story, Charlotte undergoes notable development. Her character arc is deeply tied to confronting her troubled family past, including a painful search for her estranged mother and processing the grief surrounding her brother's death. Her interactions with Kimihiko are central to this growth. Despite their hostile start, he becomes an emotional pillar for her, helping her to question blind obedience to orders and to value teamwork over solitary action. In a critical battle, she sustains near-fatal injuries but is saved by Kimihiko, who also helps her reconcile with her mother's trauma. Her journey is one of evolving from a lone assassin, bound by strict orders, into a more integrated and dedicated agent who learns to trust her allies while still fiercely protecting the memory of the detective she admires above all else.
